My family used to be the right side of the border but ended up as far south as Hertfordshire via Bradford and Manchester!!!!

From what I hear ,when talking to the guys in my office and occasionaly meeting Guys from other parts of the country,their is a lot of bad feeling amongst the guys towards the Management. In Many cases events in our office,the Management seem to be doing everything possible to upset the workforce.

I beleive their is so much bad feeling a strike would get full suppourt especialy about future changes.

But the downside to this many people are unhappy with the Union to.Our Rep does a great job,but when the management implement some thing from the national agreement, many guys cant under stand why the union goes along with it !

Are you seriously telling me that more senior people from the CWU will visit offices,supposing they meet members who tell them what things are really like,I cant beleive they would dare visit more than one office.!!

Who do you think people are more fed up with RM or CWU ?

Bit like my office, but the mbrs were more than happy to take the money that came with the pay and modernsation aggrement of 2007. They dont grasp that sooner or later RML will come calling to collect their dues from us.

If RML are operating the aggrement as intended and equally/fairley then theres not a lot the local rep can do. There will be nothing to register dissagrement on!

It will spread to other areas. This is not a beauty contest and whether your from Scotland , London or any other of the offices who are currently either taking action or are balloting we are all in this together.

The only difference and one which will change is London are being balloted by the National Union in pursance of a national agreement and the breaking of national agreements rather than executive action.

Following a meeting in York last week of Divisional reps we believe the number of offices and areas being balloted will increase.

Remember those offices who either have agreed or have had executive action imposed and have nothing are betraying us all. Simply doing the job properly will do nothing as Royal Mail will first lengthen the span and in Manchester we know some offices have already agreed 4 and half hour spans and then once walk sequencing is introduce reduce the span and leave you with a part time job.

The only solution and the only way forward is not fight. First off if you are having savings proposed then dont agree them and get the members orgnaised for action and try and get your whole Branch on board. Royal Mail think twice if you have a number of offices willing to stand together. If you have already agreed savings or had Executive action imposed and done nothing its not to late to fight. Remember Royal Mail will see your co-orperation as an act of weakness not strength and are likely to target you for either two man in van , lenghten the span or increase part timers. So you need to fight for a national agreement and to organise within your office.

We can all use this site to moan about the past but you can also use this site postiverly to organise and get others to fight for a future. Those who solely use this site to moan play right into Royal Mail`s hand as your continued negativity puts down those efforts which everyone made during the 2007 dispute. If you deal with senior managers you will know who they think won that dispute and it was not them. They claim we took the money and never delivered the change they believed they had agreed, let alone what they orginally proposed.

Thats why they have now moved back to basically refusing to abide by national agreements and introuducing their modernastion plans without union agreement. Thats why we need to fight to get an agreement in delervies, processing distrubution and Proffesional drivers.

At the moment I believe Royal Mail have a good tactic at national level they talk peace and promise national agreements but at the coal face they have let their managers off the hook to introduce unprecented change so by default we do not have a consistant national positon on everything from the delivery span to one outward pass in mail centres. Therefore it becomes harder for the union to organise a national ballot.

So we all have a choice either join the fight and assist in the campaign or continue to moan and post just negativity which harm those of us who are willing to organise memebers for the fight.

I know which I have chosen !! Do you ??

Exactly the case with my D.O it will be nothing more than a minor incoveinence to managers if we do the job properley.

I look at the signing on sheets at mbrs finish times add on their break and the time thay came in early and they are still making job and finish. We need to convert spare time wether it be pre exisiting or spare time that will be created by greater automation into the SWW otherwise RML will have that time purley for their benefit as evidenced by the savings proposals in my D.O to fill the next vacant duty with a 20 hour deliver only duty and utlise the reduced time we have on IPS we have at the moment to spare a a person(s) to fully prep the delivery.

With a national aggrement we can get some of that spare time for ourselves as RML will not share willingly!!!!

I love the idea that these strikes will gain impetus and spread through the country.

We need to know what's happening with such things as this years pay rise, next years change to our pensions.

We've just had National elections and the election addresses always say that this year we face the toughest year yet.
Worrying thing is that they are right. I reckon we need to have a more 'fighting' union. Negotiation is something RM is no longer interested in (or so it seems).

If we fight more perhaps we can convince RM to get back to negotiating.
