there isnt any is there.. government try to potray themselves being pensioner friendly, councils, welsh assembly etc. not sure what the craic is in scotland, but underneath it all, it's just empty words, they dont give a hoot. when trouble comes, they just don't want to know.

flexibility was banded about in the 80's, should be available to all, that would be democratic, instead of it being available for 'chosen' few... didnt think it would worked in industries where it involved key staff. but i'm sure key staff have the same rights too

How does family friendly discriminate? As far as I can see the hours still have to be worked but only the timings change (coming in early or late) so it shouldn't inpact on you at all.

As for your 'pets are my family' it is entirely possible to have both (I have 2 kids and 8 pets) and my kids are well brought up, polite and honest, so to lump all children in with the ones you remember (after all the quiet and polite ones are easily forgotten whilst the loud and rude ones are all to easily remembered) is just wrong.

positive discrimination strikes again.
Its bad enough that me and the wife- childless- pay for all and sundry with our taxes,and once again, because ive no children, i dont get flexible working hours - anyone else feel aggrieved?
Family friendly is another sham, guys in my work, do 6 days, nights, days off blah blah, family friendly my erse.

I hear this constantly from many of my whining colleagues. I fail to see how anyone can consider someone being allowed to work around child care difficulties, is preferential treatment or discriminatory in any way. I suppose we could just disregard the needs of parents who both need to work, in this day and age. Perhaps, we would all be better off with just tolerating higher levels of sick leave and urgent domestic leave during school holidays. Perhaps, you'd see that as less discriminatory. We could all stop breeding and end the human race, so just you and your pets can live in harmony, in a utopia of angry, bitter and jealous people, who believe the best way to live is to deprive someone of something just because you don't qualify for it. It's all pretty academic to be honest, as every request in my office is refused on the grounds of "Burden of additional costs".

Family friendly discriminates, its for those with family, i said i have family, pets are my kids, pets are my hobby, and a big part of my life,

when i see the scumbags on my delivery area, with foul mouthed juniors, inbred , no social skills, less manners and wild to say the least, one could not possibly contemplate mixing ones own offspring at the same nursery/primary/secondary school.

Indeed, i hear that many folk who come to view the beautiful houses on the new built posh estate where i reside, are put off immediately when they find the nearest school to us is on an estate that is quite close by.

I regularaly see a notice on the nursery i deliver too, pleading for the return of size 11 lacoste trainers, which have mistakingly been taken instead of size 10 gola ones.

Or a new brand named bag/ jacket been mistakingly lifted for an old one.
Unbelievable- these scumbags are robbing from each other, at nursery!

Some interesting views here and in your first post. in your first one you moan about family friendly policy and tax and stuff and in this one you moan about foul mouthed juniors, inbred , no social skills, less manners and wild and you dont seem to get a conection, when kids are left to their own devices because they have no body to look after them trouble is bound to follow and if you keep a family on national minnimum wage even more trouble will follow if on the other hand soiciety invests in its young then that benfits every one and is a small price to pay. Yes there will always be bad ones but if we support all the young and parents as much as we can then things will only improve for us all and the fact the government only pay lip service to rights of decent pay education family friendly policy and all the rest has an affect that you see on your estate, most of the working parents and children i know are good decent working people i would also say that all the bad things you talk about are not confined to the working class and infact the examples set by the so called political leaders business leaders and a few that live on posh estates with there jaundiced narrow minded view on life show that it pays to be a thief bigot and a bully, things that young of all social layers pick up and act on
