I just wish he would stop blaming the previous Government when asked a difficult question, we all know the weaknesses and history of the major parties, but Labour have now been in power nearly 12 years, when are they going to start accepting responsibility for their actions and policies and stop blaming others.

TBT I totally agree with you on both fronts - I will sign the e-petition - and how long can they blame the previous bunch.

Untill the sh*t hit the fan with the credit crunch the supposed boom was down to "prudent well managed government" - however when everything is poor it is just down to the global situation. On this logic surely that was also responsible for the supposed good times!

The postal service in the UK is as good - but in almost all cases better than anywhere else in the world - don't mess with it!!

The messing so far has just reduced revenue for royal mail and made life more difficult - TNT are desparate for a grannies letter from St Davids - NOT.

Fine RM has to pay for itself - but it cannot be expected to do this when compelled to distribute the luctitave bulk mail at poor rates for the likes of TNT whilst supporting the non-profit business. If TNT had to employ their own postman rather than just making a profit for brokering the deal then they would not be so keen.

RM should be able to compete on a level situation - and would do well - the service is great - and good VFM.

Currently we have little to shout about with regard to public services - why mess up one of the few that is world class.

i think we better watch out how the govt will play this.

Labour know they are due to well, credit crunch, iraq, afghanistan, fred the shreds pension, europe basically everything that is wrong in britain and know they will be booted out next general election. So they add this to the pot, f"ck up the RM, p"ss of the labour MP's and the tories and libdems vote it through. Massively unpopular, they get voted out in the next election, and the tories say that previous labour govt a"sed up RM. Labours policy of slash and burn. TNT must be laughing all the way to the Dutch Bank!!

People know that the government just ignores these petitions so that's the reason for their reluctance to sign them.

Public not interested. You can glean impressions from polls but people won't bother to put their name to anything, not really. If it was should banking execs be strung up, yes, but what about the postal service, they'll just shrug their shoulders. Heard it before etc. Thats why CWU's 89% against privatisation is way off.
