In my D.O we replace PT with PT and FT with FT.
Can you get us the agreement if poss. That was the reason Burslem went out last year, because PT's were being put in instead of FT's.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Whn a full timer retires or leaves it's common place in our office to replace with a prt timer, only full time duties are the ones who haven't left yet, so we struggle on the IP, have a huge OT bill as many part timers doing full time hours ( still saves on holiday pay & sick pay though). Interestingly they want a 4.5 hour walk introduced and are offering the part timers full time if they agree so will put our FT/PT quota back to where it's meant to be. Thing is they will reduce the overall headcount if the longer walks are accepted, and what's going to happen if / when they introduce walk sort machines, surely this will mean everyone will be forced into part time when they are introduced.

I am on a 30 hour conract and I took over a full time post when the job holder went for management training. That was 7 months ago and counting. I keep quiet about it because I claim overtime EVERY DAY of at least 2 hours which suits me. I have wondered, however, why the union reps haven't said something because by rights this is a full time job being done by a part timer, long term. I don't say anything because if it was advertised I would be unlikely to retain it because of lack of seniority.
