Excessive overtime - see me boy!

Post by andy g »

As a rep my advice to you is to slap a grievance against your dom.At this present time with walk speeds being in the news maybe a leak to the local papers etc will do the trick.Your rep or area rep should be looking at this walk in question and insisting on a full test, what i mean by that is indoor as well as outdoor.Remember Royal Mail insist PUBLICLY that they only ask our people to go at 2.1 mph not 4mph.If royal mail had sacked you believe me they would be taken to the cleaners at an industrial tribunal. Its bullying full stop.

Unable to make a decision because its beyond my authority :hmmmm
Procedual errors :hmmmm
gross misconduct :hmmmm

All sounds so familiar :so there

Keep plugging away my friend, take the advise of the Grievance Form and persue it fully as from experience once Royal Mail now they have made a boo boo and caused one of there employees no end of grief, they will drag there heals until they believe they have worn you done, not to persue your Grievance. However I'm a thorn in there side as you should be.
5 days the turn around for a Grievance so dont hold back, even get in touch with (via letter) for professional knowledge to ER OPERATION, RUGBY. Then once you have all the nessesary paper work when nothing is still not done regarding your Grievance, contact Headquaters they WILL apoint a divisional rep to deal with this and then maybe (depending how far it goes) Employment Tribunals will have to interven..

Good luck my friend and merry christmas :wave

Well thanks for all your replies. You all obviously feel the same about this as me. I`ve got no intention of letting them off the hook but I`m going to wait until after Christmas to take action. Some may say "strike while the iron is hot" and whilst agreeing to that to some extent, I would rather wait until Christmas is out of the way. The way I look at it is they know they have done wrong by the number of cock-ups in the conduct code procedure. Therefore I suspect that they are starting to sweat about possible repercussions if I choose to complain. I just want to give them a taste of their own medicine. God knows they caused me enough stress since they informed me that if their case is proven I may be dismissed. I don`t know if it`s coincidence but the cluster manager has gone off sick supposedly with a chest infection (a painful one hopefully!) It`s probably an excuse to explain why I`ve heard nothing more from them since they postponed my interview so they could "check a few things".

I`m fairly confident that they won`t carry on with the conduct code so I`m going to forget about it until after Christmas and then take stock of the situation. I had great pleasure today in informing my line manager that I would be cutting off today, albeit an hour after my time. I did it to suit me, not them. There was another couple of hours work to do but that`s not my problem. I`ll be doing it again tomorrow and any other day I want to. Isn`t it great when you`re pro-active? :chuckle

Try not to let it affect you too much as you WILL end up becoming stressed, there are a lot of c*nting managers in Royal Mail, be careful...

Does anybody know what sort of action an employee in RM can take against this sort of behaviour by the Cluster/DOM???

You can go all the way to an Employment Tribunal but must first exhaust all internal procedures. Therefore first step is to register a Grievance if you want to go down that route.

Another way is call the Help Helpine

or the B&H helpline (24 hrs) 0800 58 74 777 - this is an independent organisation.
