We are struggling big time. We come off the sorting at 8.30am and I started my delivery at 10.45. Should be about 9.30 as its SA. Yesterday (Saturday) there were 160 trays of live mail left and we are a small office of only 18 walks. I finished at 1.45pm knackered, cold and dripping wet.

well at my office of about 140 staff one of the Managers has to come around with a clipboard every morning and ask if we will be claiming overtime, because then they have to ring the area Manager and ask if it's ok. It's a joke how local managers arn't managers anymore, they just get told what to do from above.
Some posties at my place go over there duty time and they don't book no overtime, what bloody planet are they are!!
We only have got like 3 extra vans this Crimbo and i think its normally 10,so postboxes are overflowing, but of course mail volumes are down!!!!!
we have ppl deilvering parcels at night, and have spoken to them and they reckon it's totaly pointless because they can't see house numbers and therefore probley doing 50% less than what they would in daylight!

Xmas 2007 we had a few bad days but our mail was getting to us walk sorted and sequenced on the whole it was pretty good.
Xmas 2008 is bad, i think tuesday everyone finished on time (not including meal relief) but the rest of the week everyones been claiming o/t, we also haven't been getting any of our mail walk sorted or sequenced this year which is having a massive effect on o/t.

I noticed you had loads of casuals in the MC, you look in Deliveries and we have none, we have 13 vacant duties that they won't fill and a few off sick.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

my office is miserable place to work tbh i hate it at the moment, although i do enjoy being a postie i just wish someone would do something to put it right, im forever arguing with managers when i tell them i want to work to my time as they like to lay on the pressure, impossible job with impossible targets, i claim when i feel like it and cut off when i feel like it, i dont go in early, worst xmas ever !!! docket is through the roof, none of it makes sense anymore and they can stick the 27th where the sun dont shine ive had no sick for well over a year, so im having it off.

dvbuk55 wrote:Our office is running like a well oiled machine, frames clear, packets clear, all mail sorted, parcels delivered up to date, sorting is completed by 0630 and frames are prepped and we are leaving on delivery by 0730 - the customers are happy with the service and very often show their appreciation at this time of year. The Callers office is adequately manned and well organised. Prior to delivery we go to the unmanned canteen where a postwoman is preparing beans, toast and sausages at a cost of a few pence with a hot mug of tea/coffee.

Course that was in 1998 but with all our modernisation look at us now

How's Xmas Pressure at Your Office?

Post by pickaname »

Mail is mounting up at my office...cut offs galore and a backlog of over 80 yorks of packets.

Told today we could leave at 830 if we gave up our break...I think not old chap.

Looks like all goodwill has gone here. Managers are shitting it everyday as IPS means most of us cant get out of the door on time. 4 full bags of packets on top of that and its 2 cut off bags a day.

Fcuk em & merry xmas.

Is that legal?

Anyhow loads of today letters still to do when i got back. Had a part timer sorting it. one letter a minute he kept looking up at the board to find out where they were.
