Any sympathy for managers
Managers certainly don't get any sympathy from me since they done nothing but make my life hell at work. Due to lack of communication because they forget to send another manager an email rather than walk 2 min round corner to his office and speak face to face. With this they cost me 3 days pay as they said I'd over done my annual leave when it was their fault that they'd forgotten I'd swapped a holiday for few weeks earlier due to child having chicken pox, and when I went into work I was forced home due to being on holiday according to them. Then 4 months down line they realised what they'd done when I left the business and deducted it from final pay.

I know what you are saying, but believe me managers are basically in the s**t like we are. DOM's are put under pressure from above and they deligate that pressure. There is just no one listening anymore. Gone are the days when a manager has a chance to change things or impose a certain management style.. It does make me laugh when managers are all put in the same bracket. I saw a post the other day calling ALL managers scum. That metality is wrong. Of course some managers haven t the skills to do the job, but when someone gives it a go they get told they are going "to the dark side" or get a rough ride. Ill tell you what, the way some people talk to managers at RM, they would not last 5 minutes in the outside workplace.Ricky Bruch wrote:If the managers grew some balls & stood up to those above we/they wouldn`t be in the mess we are now in with all the jobs worths dictating what happens because a computer, pie chart says it should work..

We never had a lino for about 2 years, someone gave it a go and has been given a disgusting time by the very staff that moaned they needed a lino. It like being at school. And these guys since he came in are getting away and finishing earlier than ever before. The DOM is happy and so are 90% of the staff, but that just isn t good enough for a small percentage of them. They see it as a challenge. When he made a comment about "This job just isn t worth the hassle", 2 of the main troublemakers high fived each other and said "See, no manager can handle us!" How would people like it if a manager said to them something like "No blue shirt can handle me" they would go staright to the CWU and cry.
The other day our union rep told us that the latest DOM at our office was no good. But he was intrumental in getting rid of the last one. Now he wants the last one back... better the devil you know sometimes. But believe me there are no major decisions made by anyone from the DOM down now its all area managers making or passing down instructions.
