I fell off a ladder and broke my wrist at work and I was signed off by either a Sister / Staff Nurse or the doctor on duty at the Hospital A&E for 3 weeks - it was all reported to the Social by the book and I got some compo - in my naive youth , I was keen to get back to work and not be branded as lazy - get into trouble .wolfie citizen smith wrote:Hospital or GP certificates can not be overridern by Atos. i.e A GP/hospital will only issue a sick note if they feel it is warrented.... place a bullying and harassment in against a) Atos....b) your D.O.M....this is blantant victimisationWHOCARES wrote:Hello,
I was unlucky to be on my way to work, when my RM bike went off on some black ice, and me going to the local hospital in an ambulance.
I have broken my wrist and have on a nice cast on, with a sling as well, then some nice doctor who works in the fracture clinic tells me and writes out a sick certificate for to last 5 weeks...........then I get a nice call from ATOS who tells me that a nurse will be phoning me to discuss my injury.
This nice nurse, has recommended that i should go back to work, on light duties, so far I have had 9 days off sick, are the RM paid nurses allowed to overide my sick certificate?
I also keep getting letters from my DOM with things like...light duties, help will be at hand etc etc.
A-dvise please....
The GP was willing to sign me off for another fortnight and I do remember it hurting a bit - now I think ,it could have made it worse again & I should have let it mend properly - never mind taking pain killers etc .
there used to be a time when RM just claimed against someone's insurance to pay sick pay - a lad hurt his foot in a dive of a nightclub - their insurers settled with RM - common sense prevailed otherwise it would have been a RTU - nowadays Area would turn it all into a Melodrama over weeks and months - same thing went if a firm sent bags of a silly weight .
I have seen professional claimers in a similar Industry - if there was a hole they''d fall into it - there are some old soldiers / professional skivvers with RM , but they are very much in the minority - however Area / Senior can't sort the wheat from the chaff and tar everyone with the same brush .
