They've got the data from the manual parcel scanning in MCs and from packet sorting machines in MCs and the superhubs. They probably have enough data from that to generate a list each day.

A list each day? What do you mean? A postie is handed a list each day of which addresses require D2D's?

Or do the d2d's have addresses on them?

We are currently carrying 2-3 days or more of bundles of mail, many of which already have D2D's in them in addition to the 100- 200 parcels we are carrying each day.

Where do these non time sensitive d2ds fit in? Does it mean they are trialling all door to doors as non time sensitive and only for specific addresses or is this another product on top of the D2Ds we already do.

DPR drivers are the only people who could do them because a postie isn't going to carry D2D's around that may or may not be being delivered on account of them having a parcel.

It sounds like complete rubbish to me, exactly where most D2d's go anyway!

No knock no D2D, no answer no D2D.
So you take a parcel to a customer's doorstep, knock on, no answer. Instead of putting the D2D in your hand through the letterbox and possibly a card, you take the D2D back to the van...

So during the week all the people who have parcels, the doors you knock on, you hand them a D2D. So in theory a customer that receives parcels every day will receive a D2D every day or is it up to the postie to have a memory like an oracle and remember each door he delivers parcels to all week?

Possibly it's some kind of new direct marketing trial i.e. the postie is handing the D2D directly to the customer in the hope that they will actually read it? It could easily just be a load of made up nonsense?

RM should axe D2Ds and make them use machinable envelopes, so that we could sequence them. Across the country there must be a high % of D2Ds just sat under benches.

There are like you wouldn't believe! Boxes under frames, boxes occupying random yorks not touched for months, unoccupied rooms full of them.

And you can't blame the posties.

What often happens is somebody returns from annual leave, say 2 weeks, in this time the mail hasent been touched on their duty let alone the door to doors. Then its a process of trying to remedy the situation and obviously door to doors are the last thing on the to do list! They wouldn't fit in the frame anyway! If you've been able to catch up by the end of the 3rd week you could have any figure of door to doors from 3-15 before the next set come in for the next week.

In addition to this your duty might be too big that its not possible to prep the door to doors in the allocated time or you would get out too late!

Then you have lapse walks that haven't gone out for days and no body to prep them , new duty door to doors coming in to the office when the new duties either don't exist or haven't been built yet!

Theres probably a substantial part of the amazon rainforest hidden in depots across the UK!

All because of piss poor management! It used to be classified as Live Mail which you could be sacked for if you didn't deliver it! Now managers actively ignore, move it or hide them themselves!

I agree addressed door to doors would at least mean there would at least be an attempt to prep and deliver them!
