Re: For what is worth !
Don't know how people who have never been on a walk or haven't been for years can possibly know which method is best. The so called trials have failed in most offices at the moment in our office we have trolley duties and five van shares.Any cut off are covered by overtime at moment and on so called light days we lapse one walk or two walks. If not enough overtimers then bring in reserves. Like the old days

This will be the main problem ! Alot of the Duties in my DO are too big to start with. So if you can not clear on that day . Then your back on the Dutie 2 days later . with another two days mail plus Door to Doors you will have no chance of clearing . The Back log is just going to build up ! The managers will have to micro manage . They cant do that at the moment !Martin Walsh wrote: ↑Today, 09:50
4. Your unit will only recieve each day the work which has to be delivered. This means that 50% of your duties will not recieve DSA, second class etc. This will be kept in the mail centre.

Re: For what is worth !
Space , this is where you are wrong talks are taking place as to why would a mail centre sequence work on a Friday night when only 1st class will be delivered. This could be sorted in Delivery units. This means there will not be an coincidental mail just 1st class.
All work under this system will be held upstream it is in the agreement.
There are discussions going on when the Monday sequenceing could be done as the DTS is switched over After Saturday night and there is only one wave on Monday.

Darkgable as part of the pre deployment data verification if duties are not completing today then this is where the 3500 extra routes come into play along with turn some routes just heavy and light without any share of the 4th duty.

Or you have like this coming week a Bank Holiday so depending on when the non 2C day is for a walk, they could get hit with 4 days worth of 2C, if the Tuesday is a non-2C day.darkgable wrote: ↑Today, 12:32This will be the main problem ! ?They will need to be Moving resourses to try and put out fires all over the DO . which intern will destroy an already bad morale and make the quaility of service even worse

Chicken.
All the pilots will start 15 minutes earlier on a Monday. Further changes will be discussed within the review.
183 units ( 66 in Scotland ) will be able to start 15 minutes earlier Monday to Friday on the review.
All other units will under the review look at Monday and Saturday earlier starts.
Discussions are reviewing whether to sequence on Friday night or whether to just provide the first class letters to the unit to be sorted.

Re: For what is worth !
Why would when the Monday sequencing gets done need to change? We won't have the staff to run the batches at a weekend once it gets busy again.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑Today, 12:35Space , this is where you are wrong talks are taking place as to why would a mail centre sequence work on a Friday night when only 1st class will be delivered. Thanks for the reply but again I am none the wiser because it all comes under a ‘ review’, and kicked down the road , we should know all these details before being asked to vote because we know a lot of things said never come to fruition , the sick policy hasn’t progressed in years.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑Today, 12:47Chicken.

Re: For what is worth !
Why would they be starting earlier? The dispatch times from MCs won't be any earlier. The alternating days of 2C added to the DTS will eventually make all batches much bigger as you might have a load of 2C for a walk but very few DPs with a 1C item or very little 2C that has hit the time limit. The next day you might have a load of 2C that has hit the time limit but being a non-2C day it'll get rolled over along with all the new 2C. The next day you'll have 3 days worth of 2C being released. That's going to make the batches take longer to run, once you're into the 7,000 item range of mail being release, you're looking at near enough an hours run time per batch. We're likely going to have to push our dispatch times back to give the extra time that's going to be needed to run the bigger batches.Martin Walsh wrote: ↑Today, 12:47Chicken.

You say 3500 duties going back in !That sounds like allot ! but it only equates to about every office putting back in about 3 duties . We have been told about the 3 duties going back in. Still probably about a half an office of 60 duties . Cant complete without overtime, due to packets, mail volumes, previous revisions making walks to big and new builds . Plus an agieng workforce . So you reckon Half the duties will only be doing Heavy and light , without the lapsing of the 4th dutie . That will be interesting to see how that works outMartin Walsh wrote: ↑Today, 12:40Darkgable as part of the pre deployment data verification if duties are not completing today then this is where the 3500 extra routes come into play along with turn some routes just heavy and light without any share of the 4th duty.

Re: For what is worth !
Apologies for quoting myself, but the question remains - how will the workload be split on a Saturday if you have 2 in some vans and 1 in others, and will this not impact number of Saturdays off? Packets and 1C letters 'only' on many duties can take up a large portion of the available delivery time.Perseus wrote: ↑Today, 10:16"7. It works better for non drivers as they can stay on the CDV pairing and rotate the heavy and light model and can can share on a Saturday to enable an earlier finish."
Please explain how a Saturday operation works in reference to that. If you need 20 people in on a Saturday, 5 of which are non drivers - surely you'll need 5 MORE staff in to DRIVE the shared van? Surely 2 people in a van aren't going to be given the same amount of work as 1 person in a van to get this earlier finish you speak of? People are well within their rights to not drive and I agree with them, but you can't ignore the practicalities of how a Saturday will work.

Re: For what is worth !
Space the mail centre would have deferred the work for 50% of the duties and manually all of it would have been in for non priority, that now can go on an earlier wave or even wave zero if the mail centre has this in place into the delivery office and the target is for all Mail centres to have a 90/10 split.
This model allows for a Delivery office to have the deferred mail into the unit earlier as it has been sequenced or sorted. No more non priority will go for the next day.
Then you’re only waiting for 1st class and parcels to arrive.

I'm wondering this too. We cannot rely on management to make this fair, the ones that moan the most will get 2 in a van. Secondly, earlier finish? It's not job and knock is it? It would just mean standing around waiting to clock out like school kids.Perseus wrote: ↑Today, 13:24Apologies for quoting myself, but the question remains - how will the workload be split on a Saturday if you have 2 in some vans and 1 in others, and will this not impact number of Saturdays off?
