The PDA has geo location switched on so they can see where it is when you scan out. The camera won't be needed for that. Mine got locked remotely once or twice, it came up on the screen that it had been reported stolen, because I'd had the same one for days and been taking it home with me and scanning out late, not to falsely claim OT just to scan out on my normal finish time because I was finishing early often. I just rang the IT helpline and they unlocked it!! I worked in an office where job and knock was the norm up until recently. Not now though.

That's the model that RM currently use, you've obviously not spotted the camera lens just to the top left of the Zebra logo :left:
Wow those things cost £1,479.90 per PDA?! No wonder RM has no money for pay rises :chuckle
I've heard a figure of £800 a PDA that RM paid, they almost certainly got a % discount off the full price for a bulk order. I reckon we've got getting toward 100 PDAs between processing and distribution (collections), and we're one of the smaller MCs.

Our new COM has told us that we cannot finish one minute before our time, just ridiculous

So just like every other firm and business that has the staff on the clock then...
Maybe but they probably have work up to their finish time I’m talking about the office being totally clear of work and we’re just standing around waiting to log out on our pda’s

Going by that some duties must be achievable in a little over 2 hours?
PS, i'm not doubting you, not at all.

They should have started using it back when processing started using it.

Because as we all know, they are the manager's favourites and have nice little easy duties. Then we have the other group who's duties are about 3 hours too big, can never complete and always have 3 - 5 days worth of mail and boxes of D2Ds that haven't been touched in weeks.

RM is actually the least efficient company I have ever worked for.

We have people who brazenly sign out 2 hours+ before finish and saunter off unchallenged.

Pairings who take it in turn to drive both PDAs around for an hour while the other goes home

People who start an hour early unpaid so they can sit in their favourite cafe/pub for ages before they sign out.

We also have people who are made to work if they come back 10 minutes early, pairings who get overloaded with packets and go over every day, part timers that get told "due to low traffic you can't come in early tomorrow" then come in to an unprepped frame, and the full timers long gone.

There is a ridiculous level of disparity in treatment, if you started post privatisation on less than a full time contract you're a second class citizen, unless you're a friend or relative of a manager

Eventually they'll get caught out by the PDA Actuals data. The screws can't use it directly for disciplinary but if they head out and observe it, then they've got them bang to rights.

I think at some point management would question two PDAs heading around together, or there being no scans for an hour.

Says you.

The reality is that any sensible manager is happy with the devil they know because the last 6-12 months it's a complete lottery when it comes to recruiting, let alone anyone half decent.

Good i hope they do get caught why should they get up the road early when the rest of us have to work to our time.

It's the last refuge of people unwilling to adapt to the reality that Royal Mail is a private owned company these days.

SISO was supposed to bring an end to a lot of practices but it appears pretty easy to get round, and even when COM's have the data/hours staring them in the face they seem unwilling to do anything.
