They are going to pull it.

They will wait until well into february to announce it leaving no time for any challenges as POAL needs to be completed by feb 28th.

Union are in on it.
And your source is??
Just a very strong educated hunch.

Only other outcome to pulling it entirely would be to ban the 22,000 people on the new contracts from POAL whilst granting it to the other 100,000 employees and i highly doubt they would risk that due to potential legal issues / tribunals etc

It’s as good as gone.

(there is also the issue for the new management team of being short staffed in DO’s and allowing everybody to have 6 weeks leave and then pay for agency cover, another reason behind the scenes why i think it will be pulled)

And the fact that RM had to write off hundreds of thousands of pounds in this financial year by not charging anyone for POAL or laptops / bicycles etc purchased via my bundle, do you think they are going to risk that again?

i think ur right mate all devious sneeky stuff going on no letting anyone book POAL thats nasty
Yes, deffo something nasty coming down the pipe.

What we must watch for and launch a challenge is if they pull POAL for the workers but still allow management to purchase extra leave and especially any CWU hierarchy in the pay of the company.

“Play the man not the ball” c’mon Martin where are you?

Just like paying them less than the other 100,000 employees...

If they don't allow you to pay for extra annual leave it would have to be a sickie for me the money you are not longer paying toward a.l would go into a jar every week to pay for any lost wages I.e 2 days 2nd sickness.

It does seem yes like it's something they are going to pull at the last minute!
Just something else added to make the job as at least attractive as possible!!
Been able to offer 6 weeks leave would of been a big carrot to get people through the door!

Some people in our office would work 365 days a year if they could

POAL is probably tied into accepting USO changes and the company are using it as a bargaining chip along with everything else.

It is a perk but how many people actually use it?

Do RM get tax relief by offering it like the other Salary Sacrifice offers?

Not really, if people are planning on doing such a thing then even a subsequent sick period is actually cheaper compared to paying the equivalent of a weeks wage over the course of the year.

It's not for me though I wouldn't risk clocking up attendance reviews due to taking dodgy sick absences.

Tax/NI Savings: Because the sacrifice is taken from gross salary (pre-tax), employees pay less tax and National Insurance. Employers also pay lower Class 1 National Insurance contributions.

Happy to be corrected but in the case of poal I don't think so because you "pay" the equivalent of say a weeks wage over the year so incur less deductions those 51 weeks but when you take your extra week off you get paid for that week as per usual so all the deductions are then taken at that point, I suppose it would be different if instead of paying weekly you had the extra time off with zero pay instead
