I believe we are recruiting additional DPR afternoon drivers, as they will be taking all of the bulk parcels of us, as advised last week in WTL.

The USO start up meetings basically say if you are doing DPR now you stay doing them. If you are not you don't start doing them.
Of course if you are due to go to DPR next year then a revision would take place and your duties would get bigger to accommodate loosing the large off delivery.
I personally believe that once up the path is by far and away the most efficient way of delivering letters and parcels but the business still has the long term view that complete separation of the two is the end goal and keeping DPRs and LATs makes that a lot easier.

Parcelforce are taking C5 size parcels and we are taking their small stuff.
Under 200 offices have a DPR section. It costs more than having posties deliver en route. DPR should have never left the boardroom as an idea but hey ho, what would we know.

Got any info on what size C5 actually is?
All I could find was this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Parcel-Cardboa ... B07N6G89QK
A5 C5 PARCEL SIZE Cardboard Lidded Box Postage Postal Packaging Mail Small Parcel Gift 9.3'' x 7.7'' x 1.9''
Which doesn't seem right!

Not in our region they're not - if anything we're taking more larger stuff - large Amazon boxes incl 15kg'ers plus.

It’s not everywhere yet. It’s started in several areas to ultimately remove 14million large parcels from the Royal Mail system.yellowbelly wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 09:12Not in our region they're not - if anything we're taking more larger stuff - large Amazon boxes incl 15kg'ers plus.

Barns can you please clarify what C5 is ?Barnacle wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 09:32It’s not everywhere yet. We're also getting increasing amounts of proper big stuff like microwaves etc but we're also occasionally getting smaller items (RM branded tracked) with the parcelforce equivalent of our sticker that we put on to indicate day 1 attempted delivery so they're somehow making their way into our system after originally being allocated to parcelforce to deliver, which also confirms it's happening in our area, hopefully it's down to initial bedding in of the system, but it also makes me wonder what the criteria is for something to be directed to PF or RM if as you'd expect it's size then it's obviously not working properly.

Sorry, there is no specified size on the bumf I have. But the offices where this has started, would have been told to reduce their DPR staffing level (because very large would no longer be arriving).ted_e_bear wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 09:53Barns can you please clarify what C5 is ?Barnacle wrote: ↑17 Jul 2025, 09:32It’s not everywhere yet. In our office we'd need to increase the DPR's because there would be more undersize packets for the duties to chuck in our DPR yorks.

Re: DPRs being removed and oversize going back onto core duties?
They made the DPR plan I described, when they still thought walks would be reduced in size for the pilots, and also when they still hadn’t acknowledged that even if they were reduced, it would make a fat lot of difference when your call rate increases to over 93%.
So it is a DPR plan that is in a state of flux.

Re: DPRs being removed and oversize going back onto core duties?
Surely the only example a DPR would make sense is if the office had a lot of hct duties that simply can't accommodate large items as the most obvious cost effective method is only one person going down the garden path.

We’re a pilot site and our DPR duties were increased from 16 to 27 and nearly all DP staff gone on to FT

We're being told our DPR duty is going, you couldn't make it up!
As far as PF are concerned we seem to be getting every parcel up to microwave size, and even the odd one large TV sized parcel our nearest PF depot is over 15 miles away so I can't see they'll ever take a noticeable number of our large parcels, as if they ever do they'd have to sent a fleet of vans to deliver them.

Weird -
DPs we used to take anything over shoebox size
We now take a lot more smalls
BUT we’ve noticed a big increase in large parcels inc a lot way over RM size and into PF size - 56” TVs etc

Re: DPRs being removed and oversize going back onto core duties?
Something's changed in that regard recently, I thought it might be just Amazon making capacity for the smaller items for Prime day/week but it's still carried on this week, I did ask one regular customer who use to deliver them and she said EVRI!!
