How much notice do you have to give to quit. Could you come in on the first Monday of two weeks of annual leave and say Im off and this is my notice period. Hand in your scan in card, put dirty uniform in the york and say Im not filling in the "what did you think of Royal Mail form". Leave after about 30 minutes then go home to chuck out everything from rm into the dustbin.

It depends on your contract and when you signed it.

If you started within the last few years or changed your hours and accepted a new contract its 1-month notice. If you have been here longer than its 1-week notice.

You can quit during annual leave, but you are not entitled to all your annual leave only what you would have accrued to that point. So if you quit this month you would only be allowed to get 1/3 of your annual entitlement.

From recent experience it’s 1 month regardless of when you started I’d be interested to hear anything different

Haha. It’s not a good job, it’s not well paid, the company is s**t and a dying industry.
The job is only going to get worse and there is not a damn thing any postman or CWU can do about it.
It’s over and I think everyone should just face facts that it is now a job with no worth and the public does not care one bit about mail being delivered to their homes and postman look ridiculous in their new uniform.

Still it’s nice to be out in the fresh air all day. Can’t beat it.

Don’t quit. It’s still a good job. You just need to change your approach. See it as just a job now, rather than a service, then work your hours and go home.

It remains to be seen if any of us will get the lump sums!

I'll believe it when the money is in the bank and not before. I'm expecting some sort of crap from RM in September along the lines of "Finances and now absolutely dire and we can't afford any lumps sums now sorry! But it's not all news bad the Chief exec and his chums still get bonuses so chin up!"

This of course to be closely followed by a CWU urgent, urgent, more urgent than ever update along the lines of " We totally agree with what RM have said so you'll all just have to suck it up. But at least we have some good news. The Union bosses donut rations are being increased! See it's not so bad!"

I can agree with you on something. I enjoy being outside apart from when its bitterly cold - even then, if it's sunny it's enjoyable too. I enjoy the physical challenge every day - I'm lucky not to have aches and pains.

Employees who leave after 4 August 2023 who are still eligible for this lump sum will be placed onto an emergency tax code by HMRC. As such they will see deductions of around 40% on this amount.

If your contract says a week, give them a week. It seems they can't wait to get people out the door. We've had a few on newer contracts just giving a week when they should be giving a month.
