I totally agree. I work in a student area and our walks produce two full yorks of oversize per day for agency workers and our fitting has parcels packed 4 high above the letters. The mail is added to with loads of STD kits and letterboxable stuff. We regularly get 20+ specials which are becoming nigh on impossible to get to all before 1pm as the round area is so huge, especially with auto redelivery. We are under pressure everyday. If we are not making money out of this what is the point?richj2009 wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 16:24Regardless of the vote outcome the effort involved everyday to clear duties is phenomenal. If a business that requires this amount of physical exertion and claims to make a loss each day then what is the point. The packets and mail are mountainous how is this sustainable. We are dead in the water whatever happens. It may as well be brought down as I fail to see how any money can be made if this shed load of work every single day makes no money.

When they say they are losing money though they dont mean in that way - our outgoing money for Friday May 12th wont be more than the money brought in through parcels and lettersrichj2009 wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 16:24Regardless of the vote outcome the effort involved everyday to clear duties is phenomenal. They still cling onto 1m a day Loss that's 365 regardless. That's not sustainable at this level especially as everyone is saying a huge net loss is to be delivered to market this month near vote time.

Me too im quite happy to vote NO now and watch the whole thing collapse i couldn't care if this country has a postal service or not.richj2009 wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 18:04It is ridiculous. Sod that though don't want charity. But if we have to work this hard for nothing but a loss then there is no hope in a yes vote. Sick and ill health reductions can't possibly turn a business like this around. Bollocks to them bring this down. I for one can't work any harder. I'm genuine when I say I'm no slacker.guardianangel wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 17:52Exactly im on my knees everyday now and if we have to work this hard while making a loss what really is the point,i wish they just take it out of my hands now and make me redundant,a couple posties broke in our office this week now on long term sick,im looking at us now as those mistreated donkeys you see on the adverts,i wonder if we could start a new charity ,the postie sanctuary.richj2009 wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 16:24Regardless of the vote outcome the effort involved everyday to clear duties is phenomenal. Last time a lot of that was them dividing ''the losses'' into 365 but were including things like money spent on hubs, managers VRs, electric vehicles etc
If you earn £20k a year and usually save your wages but one year spend £10k of your £20k on a new car you could argue that you have lost £27 a day that year
You havent really though. Yes you have £10k less in savings but you have an asset. Royal Mail is asset rich.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Sadly I'm in that place too. Never thought I would feel that way a couple of years ago. I'm cliché I loved the job and everything that went with it but now I wish nothing but the end.guardianangel wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 18:22Me too im quite happy to vote NO now and watch the whole thing collapse i couldn't care if this country has a postal service or not.richj2009 wrote: ↑11 May 2023, 18:04It is ridiculous. We just have to be honest. None of this is our fault we've been worked like dogs for years, the company despite now calling us lazy bastards have got by on our good will alone (Delivery) and the union facilitated that by their inaction when called in to defend our terms. Lost count of none payment for overtime, lost count of bank holiday fiddles.
That has gone for good now. Time for this company to run it's course. See how long it lasts.

Had some health and safety guy today, while I'm swamped by parcels, asking me if I had my bloody post it peg and whether I knew where it was. I nearly lost. I said I really don't care to be honest. I was so close to blowing my top.
