Ah the joys of filthy a man who at least has a basis for a arguement. We all realise where RM are at and while we can stop talking about profits and where the money has gone, we cant forget how it happened. Any agreement with RM runs the risk of papering over the cracks without actually helping the company, the bigger question has to be with the current people running the company will it make any difference what we do, if they are currently losing as much as they say they are then i am afraid we arent the problem, no amount of cost cutting can allow for incompetence as quoted by the parliamentary commitee so anything we do might all be in vain. Personally i think this might be the case and unless theres a change we are all doomed!! There we go i have become one of those things i hate a doom and gloomer. So maybe accepting any deal isnt the way to go.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 12:17I wonder then if that’s royal mails plan. Instead of offering pay rise to attract workers due to shortage that are offering little to get rid of excess?LouBarlow wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 12:01To be fair, Aldi have risen their wages to attract workers as there is a labour shortage. I agree with your other point though - people wanting to burn the company down rather than compromise are barmy.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 10:55Why? Because I disagree with folk who think that the company burning to the ground is a better option than accepting a deal?
If you hate the job that much go to Aldi. They have better wages now and you don’t have to walk 10 miles a day! And they did that without a prominent union.
People need to stop talking about profits we made last year and look at where we are now. The money has gone. Who is responsible for that is a different matter but all of this talk of endless strikes and constant moaning is pointless. The CWU know this now. It’s members seem to have been suckered into this alternative reality where they can’t see past the end of their nose.

Yep, the money has gone - but the greedy men at the top haven't and they are the biggest problem in Royal Mail right now. And whilst I don't wish to reflect on how Royal Mail have thrown money down the toilet in the last several months; they are even more likely to do it in the future and still blame the strikes as the main reason why the company is still losing over million quid a day.
So the question remains how do we get rid of the disease without self-harming ourselves in the process? You don't turn a successful company that made record profits in one year into another one that is possibly going to end up going out of business like Woolworths overnight in the next year....Something must change somewhere
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
