Pretty sure the original offer didnt include all delivery offices starting 3 hours later.
Mmmm . 30 minutes to an hour I seem to remember originally
It's a pointless argument whether it says 30mins or 3 hours.
The actual proposal states....
2.3 -Later Start and Finish Times

Attendance times will change from time-to-time with reasonable notice. The indicative impact of the change based on current network requirements was set out in the employee letters sent in late October but may change over time.

The restrictions on start and end times set out in Business Transformation Agreement and the Post Modernisation Agreement will no longer apply.
So basically whatever start time they want and changed whenever they want with no negotiation involved.

Also this...
Our ambition is to achieve a last letter delivery time of 17:00

I was going to post what would be an acceptable but this offer seems to be aimed just to thwart the strikes and get it over the xmas pressure period.
A lot of red flags will start appearing in as little as 4months from the date we accept the deal. This is terrible offer especially with a real terms pay cut. I can't see them dropping their demands for change and certainly paying us more.

The end game is destroyed business for years to come, compulsory redundancies as effectively fire and rehire style. Just another gig economy company hiring self employed workers paying them peanuts and offering zero job security.

I feel sorry for those trapped at Royal Mail, who are unable to leave as they are too old to retrain, or too close to retirement to just leave it. I wish the cwu have played it better from the beginning.

Yep mid 50s now and over 30 year’s service, I was hoping to see it out to 60 and lump sum pension but even that looks unlikely now , am seriously considering the vr now which I really didn’t want to do at this stage as it would mean getting another full time job somewhere.

I'm not looking to argue, I'm genuinely curious. What are the things the CWU should have done better?

They should have let go this no strings pay rise agenda. It was obvious it is not attainable, especially with inflation matching pay increase. They should have engaged in negotiating the changes the business is trying or in fact have already introduced through executive action. I can't speak for everybody but majority of people would accept the 5-6% pay rise, yes I know it is a pay cut with some minimal changes. Instead we have gone for months, lost hundreds of ££ and we are still nowhere near anything close to acceptable deal. For most of us it is not the pay rise it is the change.

The CWU allowed Simon Thompson the get out with the legal protections contained within the Agenda for Growth agreement with balloting for strike action over the pay claim. As soon as they did that he went straight in with attacking terms and conditions

Put simply the CWU breached the legal undetakings (No strike clause) contained within that contract giving Simon Thompson a free hand to do whatever he wants. Game set and match

I'm not convinced any of that would have changed the position we're in now. The fact these changes have been enforced on us, bypassing the union, says it all. For most people these changes are unacceptable. Had the union been part of any implementation of these, they'd be getting laid into now. I think it's best they played no part. I don't believe there was a part for them to play, from RM stand point, other than total capitulation.

From Day 1 it should of been done on a locali/regional level.

RM Achilles heel is the competence of its front line managers.

Who are RM trying to convince posting this here on a strike day. If you were serious you would have papered the walls with this in your delivery offices and had your managers promote it.
You have 100k staff, is this anyway to communicate with them? How many do you think will have seen it?

We don't know and won't know now. If we went that way I believe we could have had some sort of compromise by now. Problem is this wouldn't mean we were safe. They would come back for more in future. Just look at "latest" best and final offer. They want everything they wanted but phased over time for about £10 a week extra. I am afraid this dispute has no winners and those who can should just prepare to leave, hopefully with VR payment in the bag.

An agreement should be made for each area/office?

Cant see any comments from the usual crew of "Optimists" who normally try and convince us all that Simon's offer is the best we can get and we should aLL JUST GO BACK TO WORK ......... :cuppa
