I'm hoping the cwu clarify the 24th strike date will be legal before the 24th,Martin Walsh said that legally the 12 week period is up to 23rd December,and in the cwu,s wisdom announced the 24th as a strike day.
I'll be out the same as everyone else, but we have to be protected legally by the cwu on this date.

Never worked in one strike day in 38 years and if the union call strike days then I will be out. But I think the two days 23/24 should be cancelled . Keep them on to pressure RM but with 3/4 days to go call them off. Any support we have will disappear if little Johnny doesn’t get his present.

Several points to cover concerning the 23rd & 24th Strikes:

Firstly I don't think Front Line Posties would take it too kindly to you lecturing THEM on delivering Christmas BS. Your Blue Title indicates MC/Processing, it's a different world in Delivery, and not a particularly nice one at the moment.

Pride in the job is a personal thing. Like Postieblueshirt says, For many that went out the window years ago, and you can thank RM for that! If you're on a Regular Duty probably not so much but think about all the Reserves and PTers that get messed about on a daily basis. They have no "Customers", just an ever changing rota of duties. Hence not even a chance of getting decent Christmas Tips to bring a smile to your face.

If anyone doesn't start ordering their shite for Christmas early then they're being naive. Even the Big Retailers are trying to move Christmas further forward into NOV that's what Black Friday is about, that's why we're striking at this time.

And if everybody does order early and everything's sorted for Christmas why not give the Hard Working Posties a 5 day break to spend with their families? Once more you can lay the blame at RMs feet for never having considered ways to reward Posties for the Bloody Hard Work that goes into Delivering Christmas, normally it's 2 days off and then back on the treadmill!

I'm sure the CWU is well aware of when their Strike Mandate expires (I'm sure I've seen some comms about that) so I wouldn't worry about Illegal IA.

Good post,in our office by the time 23rd and 24th December comes round we are starting to slow down as most people have their stuff in by that time ,so would be very silly for people to wait till last minute for stuff to arrive knowing there is strikes going on,their own fault you might say.

Please Union,can we get some confirmation on what is going on with this,very concerned that this may play into senoir managment hands regarding discipling/sacking staff.
Don't want to cross a picket line but cannot afford to loose my job either.

Let's face it if we haven't got an agreement by the 23rd those 2 days will not make a difference.

Why cancel it, at least people can have some time off over Christmas. We might as well make the striking work to our advantage.

The public just need to ensure they order things in advance.

That's what ive read all the time with these strikes. It's all about having a few days off for football, fishing trips or more days off at Christmas . If some people can say on a forum that's their main advantage of striking I can't understand why they want to strike for more money while it's clear they can get by very well without money. It's all about having the days off. Look back at the posts.

its not about money its because they are knackered after being given unachievable targets and STILL bullied and harassed on a daily basis,they look forward to days off because of mental and physical stress,if we let them win it will be 10 times worse and staying to work for a company like that puts serious risk to health

If its not about money why even stay in the job ? Get a job on less money and less stress . They'll be hundreds of postman this year having a miserable Christmas because of money shortage and higher bills. If people are not worried about money then don't rub it in for the ones struggling by saying how good it is to spend more time in the pub watching football.

We have just taken 2 days strike action and HQ have taken the weekend off and said nothing of any note.

After the 2 days this week we then have only 4 days strike action before Christmas week and one of them is a Sunday.

Not to worry though because the leadership say we will win the dispute so I guess they know which strike day will win the dispute.

Is it yesterday's strike that will win the day ? Or maybe its Sunday the 11th that Andy Furey has time machined for success but whatever strike day it is they might aswell tell us or maybe they just don't know which makes Xmas eve legalities an irrelevance
