anyone know likely strike days when we get likely yes vote?

How come they never tried to get the managers ballot overturned?. Unless they know for a certain fact it was all legal an above board......which leaves me wondering if our lot have dropped a bollock on our ballot and RM go scurrying off to court....hope im wrong.

They can’t very well try to have our ballot overturned before the result is announced. I think we all know that RM’s first act will be to try the courts, then half hearted negotiations, then when IA is inevitable, they negotiate properly and sign a new agreement (that they have absolutely no intention of honouring), that will be hailed as the ‘deal of the century’ and a win for the CWU.

From what I recall the Tories' anti-union laws require IA to be taken within 28 days of ballot result to keep it 'live'.
The Union is required to give two weeks notice of IA.

iirc just having all reps on strike for once a week is enough to keep the ballot live, repeated each week until the 6 month limit

royal mail just paid a 2% back dated lump sum,that should give everyone some strike funds,they are softening the blow to peoples finances,paying us to strike how perverse is that or have they a cunning plan .

From Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992:

234 Period after which ballot ceases to be effective.
[F1(1)Industrial action that is regarded as having the support of a ballot shall cease to be so regarded at the end of the period, beginning with the date of the ballot—
(a)of six months, or
(b)of such longer duration not exceeding nine months as is agreed between the union and the members' employer.

Nothing mentioned about having to take IA within 28 days (or even at all within 6 months from the ballot opening)
to keep a vote for IA valid. So it's valid for six months from 28 Jun irrespective of anybody taking IA i.e. 28 Dec (ish).

presuming a yes vote.

I agree the first day of strike needs to be in Aug for a number of reasons.
(1) Incase RM try to block it using courts we can re-ballot quickly if the cwu messed up again
(2) Let RM know we WILL be striking and expect more strikes unless we get real negotiations with a possibility of a deal.
(3) Let RMs big business customers know we could be on strike leading to the peak periods (Oct / Nov / Dec)

The first strike will make the news & warn RM we will lose business to other couriers without a deal.

How often should we strike? I dont know. Thats for the big boys with big paychecks at CWU HQ to figure out.

Are we striking for a Straight Pay Rise or a Pay Deal? Both have been a slap in the face.
