There won't be a strike. You'll get concessions and thats it. Well, there might be a strike, but it will still be concessions - if any. The CWU knows the pension has to be sorted out and will be more reliant on political pressure. If we all walked we'd get caned. Period. Deal has already been done. Ask the CWU to disclose the wording on the deal and you'll see how they left the pension part too open-ended and in favour of Bond Street.

But how will the Managers Union affect the outcome, they seem just as pissed off as us and if they go for a strike it could be bloody.

Thats why I will support a strike - I for one know that we will never get RM to back down completely and reverse their position on the pensions. But I do believe that there is room for compromise and negotiation and the threat of a strike, and an actual strike are one of the few tools that we as workers/future beneficiaries can use with any effect.
There will be a compromise I just hope that AL and AC don't act like they did last year and I also hope for the same from our Union leaders.

Not barking mad just people hoping for the best possible outcome. I personally can never see us going pack to the previous pension scheme, even if by some miracle we had a profit of 5 billion a year. Because it would all go back into the central government coffers and as bonuses for senior management.Night Tonic wrote:Lot seem to think there will be a reversal -even Hayes hinted at that. That view is barking mad.
However, I do not begrudge people who believe that we can get Royal Mail to reverse their position, I wish them luck. I tend to be of the type that hopes for the best, expects the worse and am generally quite happy if reality is somewhere in between.
