That would be nice if HCT duties weren't the first most juciest lapsing target.

Yeah, fair point. They always have an * next to them when they come up saying this duty may be lapsed when required ! Ok, all the time then. You're basically signing just to know your days off in advance.

Re: plan B now - stop van sharing?
HCT duties are probably the nearest ones to the DO so they can send anyone out to do them on lapsing, driver or non-driver. Over time there'll be less and less HCT duties as more DOs get relocated away from the area they actually cover

The latest revision in the office I’m at now has added about 6 new HCT duties.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 19:50HCT duties are probably the nearest ones to the DO so they can send anyone out to do them on lapsing, driver or non-driver. Is your DO located in the area that it covers?Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 20:34The latest revision in the office I’m at now has added about 6 new HCT duties.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 19:50HCT duties are probably the nearest ones to the DO so they can send anyone out to do them on lapsing, driver or non-driver. A DOM thinking beyond the immediate implementation of the revision knows to leave something in reserve for next year when the DSM demands more lapsing.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 20:34The latest revision in the office I’m at now has added about 6 new HCT duties.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 19:50HCT duties are probably the nearest ones to the DO so they can send anyone out to do them on lapsing, driver or non-driver. Yeah I know where you're coming from there, park n loop can be great with a decent pairing where you work and get on well together, I've been stung though with partners being on holiday/sick and then being stitched up with the shall we say less desirable postie's that no-one wants to work with, I actually lean towards rural as my preference as I also like being on my own.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 21:48I gave up my rural to do park n loop completely fed up with stop start in out up down feckin back killing me especially combo vans.crap roads blocked roads bad weather out in the sticks.rural ain't that great and neither is van share there's not really any descent shifts left.

Know what you mean. Can't do mine in a combo though , they're just too cramped and low to be getting in and out of 90+ times a day. Peugeot partner much better.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021, 17:32Yeah I know where you're coming from there, park n loop can be great with a decent pairing where you work and get on well together, I've been stung though with partners being on holiday/sick and then being stitched up with the shall we say less desirable postie's that no-one wants to work with, I actually lean towards rural as my preference as I also like being on my own.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021, 21:48I gave up my rural to do park n loop completely fed up with stop start in out up down feckin back killing me especially combo vans.crap roads blocked roads bad weather out in the sticks.rural ain't that great and neither is van share there's not really any descent shifts left.

I think van sharing is going to cease soon with Omicron
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: plan B now - stop van sharing?
Q: Are we still allowed to share vans at alert level 4 ?
A :
Shaun Davis
Yes, providing local risk assessments are still in place, face coverings are worn and the cab is ventilated. If social distancing requirements change we will update. Thanks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
