PLANTS! I hate them! Whose idea was it to send plants through the post? Soil gets everywhere and how am I supposed to get any letters in my bag when I have three plant boxes?

HATE THEM...

Most of ours are taken by the drivers as they are perishable and it takes 48 hours for them to get back to the DO. (The packets not the drivers :Very Happy )

Because of the size of the plant packets (and because most addresses get more than 1) then they should go with the drivers (I know that whenever I'm delivering others packets I take them)

Tried giving one to a driver and he just said 'can't you get that in your bag?' I looked at it and at my empty bag and I took it. Next one came along when my bag was full and he says 'looks like you need another bag'. I'm going to start giving the drivers more parcels, I'm sick of them.

Just have correct bag weights 16kgs and 11kgs, and a packet too bulky for your bag give them to a driver if he refused collar a manager

Yes but ...

a shoebox, to me that's for the driver, doesn't matter how much mail I've got, how many bags are full or how many other parcels I've got, the size of a shoebox and it goes to the driver. What about half the size of a shoebox? If there's just one I can take it no probs. If there's three or four, that's when I get narked. They are still the same size, but there's so many of them, I want to give half of them to the driver, but usually end up taking say, 7 bags instead of 6. All the correct weight of course.

Where do you draw the line?

I hate parcels more than D2D's and Sky mags!

Don't forget the Saga mags and holiday brochures. Light bulbs, National Trust magazines with those books in them, the list grows.... You're right about the plants though, I've one guy on my round who gets them every spring and autumn, over the course of three weeks he must get about 30 boxes of them, most I give to my driver who takes them no problem. If and only if, I have room in my bag I'll take 1, but you've got to remember you've got more bags to go. How are you going to fit a full pouch of mail into half a pouch, or are you meant to carry the box of plants in your hands! Do what I do and get your drivers mobile number and give him a call if you're left with it. Mine is excellent and as long as you don't take the 'p' help him out and he'll do the same back. It should be the same everywhere, but we all know it isn't.

Drivers think they are a law unto themselves, and i'm a driver!!!!
Most of the drivers i know and have known are tossers.
I take most things from my guys because i know the walks and how hard they are.
And it's bad, wankey and selfish drivers that screw the job up for a lot of walkers.
Also causes friction and bad blood in offices where there shouldn't be.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
