Re: Frontline recruiment is about to get simpler
All new jobs should be a 35 hour week with an hours meal relief each day. Totalling a 40 hour a week contract and permanent job after 1 year temporary
This is how you will make the job a career choice for young 20 something people again so they can get mortgages ect.
Otherwise the turnover rate will be a joke

Zareena
When making the decision to recruit, unit managers are encouraged to consider the type of contracts they offer and how this can improve retention. For example, recruiting people on permanent contracts is more attractive in the employment market. It is also important we manage candidate expectations by advertising the hours we expect our new colleagues to work.
New starter
I’m on a 20 hour 12 month contract - my interview was very much based around my flexibility to work overtime (which I can happily do) and my interviewer said there is more than enough available.
Is it too early Zareenaaaaaaaaaaa?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Go On Give yourselves a pat on the back! I hope you all enjoyed your day of reflection.
Meanwhile in the Real World of RM everyone's STILL working their Tits Off and going home knackered. What a Bunch of Dickheads.

What exactly were the achievements over the last 6 months again? Is it just me, or does Terry look a little 'sheepish' in that picture?

So I contacted Zareena about this, half expected a politicians answer but no answer at all, it was on Linkedin, so she has seen it.POSTMAN wrote: ↑19 Oct 2021, 20:45Zareena

Re: Frontline recruitment is about to get simpler
Definitive proof, as if it was ever really needed, that they are all absolutely taking the piss out of each every one of us on the front line.
Achievements of the past six months, just in our DO? Stress related sickness is through the roof, increasing by the week.
Staff leaving like an autumnal tree shedding leaves and not being replaced, to add to the third off sick already (stress, as already mentioned, covid, general sickness and just all round knackeredness).
New starters saying sod this for a lark as reality hits in after the initial shock at how s**t it all really is.
Walks failing every day by the dozen.
Morale on the floor as OPGs start to fall apart mentally and physically after 18 months (never mind six!) of being bullied, coerced or feeling duty bound to cover the slack.
Well, stuff the lot of youse, hope the vol au vents gave you a week's worth of the sh***s; you out of touch, self serving freeloaders.
A great example of joint working? You'd make more sense and achieve a hell of a lot more if you all worked together a joint and passed it 'round.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Re: Frontline recruitment is about to get simpler
I have noticed that on job adverts for Posties they have put something like: 'You need to be flexible, working up to 45 minutes over your time'. And this goes alongside what that lady stated about making it clear to new starters what's expected of them.
We have a contract which states we finish at a set time. I am pretty sure this statement is new to these job listings as it was never there when I signed up. We should not be expected to work up to 45 minutes over our time. If they think that we will be working 45 minutes over our time then the revision clearly hasn't and won't improve anything. Jobs are supposed to be set up so they are doable in our contracted hours!!!
They think stating that people will be expected to work this much over will help retain staff?..... how?.... ok they now know the new staff will be aware of this and therefore they may be more inclined to stay out over their time rather than bring stuff back....but it won't help retain staff when they get fed up of it and are so tired they have to give the job up as they are being overworked in a very physically demanding job.
How about you managers at Royal Mail make the jobs doable in our times so that we don't have to go over our contracted hours and are less likely to become fed up and exhausted with the job. THIS WILL BE A BETTER WAY TO RETAIN STAFF!

Re: Frontline recruiment is about to get simpler
I guess you are safe … for now.
This whole ‘manager decides’ mantra is actually comical. Our DOM said he placed 4 vacancies for approval, knocked back by Operations Manager, Finance Team and SDL.
Should be re worded to ‘manager decides subject to approval from those above them who look at the data but have zero idea of what goes on in delivery office’

Re: Frontline recruitment is about to get simpler
I thought this new recruitment strategy was only valid for about 3 months? We managed to get a few Recruits through the door and then the next thing the DOM told us they (RM) had put a Recruitment Freeeze on again.
Mind you this is the Penny Pinching Time of the year.

So why would our Zareena be needed to be made a director of Angard then?
