We were asking them to do 126 things a day. That's something every four minutes we were asking them to adhere to 212 policies. We've had an initiative running in sale in Manchester where we're allowing the team, the leader of that team to spend time focusing on issues of the customer, to spend time with their team, to make sure that our health and safety is in perfect shape. We're asking them to focus on doing the right thing, including reducing our policies whilst also keeping ourselves safe from 212 down to 20.

Great so let me get this straight

The frontline delivery workers get told we werent doing enough, get a revision forced upon us piling more onto an already unachievable workload, more pressure, just as our busiest time of the year approaches

And the managers are getting told that our CEO wants them to do LESS as they had too much work to do before

Cheers Simon

Great to be part of the 'team'
Exactly my thoughts.

Honestly, i couldn't be any more confused right now. I understand all the visions, teamwork, work harder speeches that come from a CEO, but this!

I posted the following before, and each time he comes on camera he solidifies the fact that the "wool has been pulled over his eyes".

I will answer Simon's questions:

What matters to them (delivery managers)

Staying in the office and going out for lunch. There might be one or two exceptions but generally its not doing any indoor or outdoor work.

What matters to their team

Making sure that both indoor and outdoor workloads are fair and that duties are equal. Sharing out the overtime and not putting any undue pressure on staff if they cannot complete.

What matters to our customers

Getting all mail and parcels delivered everyday. We seem to be failing big time with all these lapsed duties that are not going out.

From my experience only 1 out of the 3 is happening right now. Sadly, customers are coming last with Royal Mail right now.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

23 Stare blankly at this year's holiday applications and then put them to the bottom of the 'pending' tray.
24 Stare blankly at next week's duty roster and leave it till Saturday morning so reserves are kept on their toes.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

37 Draw lots to see who doesn't get paid the correct overtime this week to meet the budget
38 Draw lots to see who doesn't get paid the correct overtime this week just for sh***s and giggles
39 Choose this weeks recipient of the prize for most outlandish managerial obfuscation
40 Choose the recipient of the Saturday off that rightly should go to to whoever is covering the duty actually due a Saturday off.
41 Decide how close to finishing time on Saturday is appropriate to put up next week's day off sheet
