So she left the keys in the van and the door unlocked? Why would she do that? Must have been laziness. If my mail was in that van I'd be pretty peed off. I think she deserved to be sacked, anybody else agree?

Not knowing the full facts I am not sure if I do.

If she has a clean record and shows due remorse for what I hope was an one off, and taking into account her long service then yes I think its harsh. Perhaps a 2 year serious warning with suspended dismissal would be fair and would frighten others into not doing the same. It would also look good in a PR sense.

However, if she has a history of doing it and has been warned on other occasions for serious misconduct or even just misconduct, in other words its part of a pattern, then in that case it may well be a fair decision.

People make mistakes we aren't perfect and any fair disciplinary process or form of justice has to take that into account.

Oh and a review of the policy,ok what does he and the boys and girls on here suggest,3 strikes(Vans get nicked) and you're out?

When will these people ever learn for gods sake,feel sorry for the gal,but what else is there to say.

Old Numnuts also mentions about us being under pressure to complete our rounds,wasn't he the same pratt that slagged us off for striking to stop all that.
We knew it was coming and all they did over there was take the piss out of us and slag us off.

They've changed their tune and started this let's bash Royal Mail/ New Labour /The EEC instead of taking the p*** and slagging the staff off as they do want Post Offices to stay open but on their advertisers terms which means walking into a Post Office and being able to use UPS / Hayes DX etc as well as RMG , the Lib Dem way with competition /choice and decoupling POL from RMG .

It's the cuckoo in the nest thing with the competition , those couriers can't afford to or it's not profitable enough to have too many accessible outlets but would like to have them on the back of RMG/POL .

They know the CWU are against closures so they want RM staff on side but I wouldn't fall for the middle class are completely above board and the lower classes are feckless /lazy /deceitful stuff then a complete turnaround .
