You must be quite something to behold, watching what you say, measuring every word, every syllable, just in case the other berk you're talking to is a journo.
Hindsight, something you've never needed the benefit of, I take it?

It was not just the staff the Managers had no balls to challange unacceptable behaviour or performance. I was totally shocked, staff spent hours "yes hours" in the canteen to avoid sorting and prepping sometimes for such a length of time they ran out of time to go on delivery.

I am sure there are Postal staff who really want to do the job properly in London but they were certainly out numbered by the mutitudes that sat in the canteen or played pool only a hour after there duty start times. I would resign or allow myself to be hounded out the business before I accepted some of the attitudes shown on that program or in my time down there. The Managers were weak but I bet they get very little support from above either.

The majority of Postal staff elsewhere do an excellent job and in most cases the job is difficult and tiring and I think they deserve credit for the effort they put in especially in bad weather and heavy posting times and unfortunately we are all tainted by the actions of these few.

Wonder if he was 1 of the 3 to a van brigade, delivering about 20 stirs a day and then back to a top west london hotel for the night and all expenses paid and no questions asked. :wave

Well there has been an answer on here BUT it was couched in the following terms - "in order to get a four day week they had to collapse 6 duties into 5" - now that is an answer on a par with C4s program BECAUSE it would depend on how big the duties were in the first place.

Does anyone know if these undercover reporters posing as temporary posties managed to finish the rounds they were given on time?
Also 10hr days at a cost of houndreds of thousands of pounds were scrapped in our southern office - however our office is now operating at a massive amount of ineffieciency (even more than before!) due to the hundreds upon hundreds of hours flowing out the office needed to cover the overtime cracks in our sinking ship. Higher management are now at a massive cost putting forward a plan to bring back 10hr days
We did try to tell our management :arrrghhh

I wouldn't be at all surprised, mate. The hardest part of his "jolly" in the smoke, was probably getting his lard arse into the van.

I don't wonder what he is, I can see what he is! He's a strike breaking . Anyway, I'm not having a jumped up office boy trying to set me against any other worker from anywhere let alone London. Redman, you C4 and your pals Mandleson and Crozier will just have to kiss my scouse backside!

Those kiss-ass DIMs make me want to puke, senior management have as little or no regard for them, as they do us, yet, they'll spend each and every day betraying their class and people, kissing the ass of any passing DSM, themselves daily betraying their class and people, and just so they can get that little higher up the mountain of shyte that is the management structure in Royal Mail.

There are two issues in this thread, the programme itself and the area it was filmed.
As for the programme some of what went on was absolutely disgraceful,it doesn't matter if it was "snippets" or taken out of context it was plain awful.
As for the London issue what you are seeing is a backlash against the whole "London is strong and you are weak" myth that is thrown about by certain posters on this forum.
London is as weak as any other area if it is isolated.
We are only strong as a united NATIONAL union and some would do well to remember that.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

So true! What makes it worse is they live off the money we earn.

for what its worth my take is that it was done with the blessing of RM management & gov. they knew that there would be a backlash against London ,it was just a bit too twee for my liking, too many strange coincidences, cosy chats with the DOM,no security on the door or gate,no training etc. IMO it was a load of bollocks to break our solidarity in case the outcome of the talks are (probably) shite

linkinpark wrote:I wish i had a walk in London if they have a few more crumbs from the table than the rest of us but sadly i dont think they do. the four day week would not work in many other places in the UK because of infrastucture high dense housing and being able to take MR after 2.5 hours or so into a five hour duty at a cafe and toilet stops ect. managers have been trying to make this a London thing for about a year and its not! Every office has its issues some the same and some different. Some Managers dont like a workforce with balls and that stick together and as i see it the One above is the same. Good on you London if they are squealing your doing something right keep going.
