Hey lets put that out to local negotiations.spiderman wrote:Not sure if this has been covered already and apologies if it has. If we did end up receiving a lump sum on D2D, who would receive it?
Is it for those who actually do D2D? As cover men do not do D2D. Then you have those who just do collections or deliver parcels, will they get the pay out? Would the payout be based on how much you currently get paid? We have walks that only receive around 60 D2D when its business only (large firm deliveries). Then there are town duties that have 600-900 delivery points.
So how would it be worked out?

Re: National Negotiations – Extended into next week!
The answer is they will want our D.O to be the first to have its mail put through the CSS/iLSM machine.
Look they dont want later starts but if if mail is going through a machine or queing up to go through a machine when it would normally be at the D.O then there is not a lot that can be done about that other than to try and convince RML not to sequence mail for the D.O. I am making it clear to them that the position we are in the queue for sequence mail will influence start times.
What the members will want though is for that mail to be collected or sent down to us as soon as its ready. What is so wrong with that? Why cant my members have that? That is the question they will ask and expect a answer to, if the answer is every DO has to have the same start times they will not be happy and there will be ZERO support for such a policy!!!!
My question to you is what criteria should be used to decide the order of DO mail going through a CSS or iLSM?
The D.O that will be doing it for my cluster will cover three other D.O's and however many SPDO's there are in the cluster.

re read my posts
It's over staffed on IPS, we have more duties doing IPS than needed for no other reason than the mail centre taking a greater portion of IPS mail and walksorting it than it did a few years ago.
Before the SDD revision in 2004 not one single rural duty did IPS but now 7 out of the 15 do IPS. Why do they do IPS? Removal of night shift and the move to a 5 day week which increased their working day. These rurals have not had any extra delivery work put on them. Now in 2010 we dont need them on IPS any more so a possible solution is to make those 7 bigger rurals like thier counterparts that DONT do IPS. That then leads to the question of what to do with the spare man power? What im suggesting with the rurals is making them all equal rather than some have IPS and less delivery work and the others have no IPS but more delivery work. In essence return them to their pre SDD 2004 structure.
As started in previous threads we have a rural duty holder retiring this year so that is a oppurtunity to absorb some rural delivery work without anybody losing out on their current rural duty.

Re: National Negotiations – Extended into next week!
How big is your Delivery Office Bigdaz?
What is the tear ars*e rush to get up early, get the mail early, rush out early and be finished early? "As soon as the mail is ready we want it, pronto" Why?
An 8 hour day is an 8 hour day - whether it finishes at 2.30,3.30,or 4.30 determines what time you start.
Our office will have two sequencers and it is reported that we will prepare 2 other offices BEFORE our mail is put through - now if yours was the first of the two offices you would have your mail lets say 90 minutes before us and then be out of the door before our mail is prepared - do you think that is right and proper? Or is it a question of I'll be alright Jack?

Re: National Negotiations – Extended into next week!
Be very careful what you wish for.
Remember Royal Mail!s strategy is to have standiarsed operating pratices where it costs the same price per letter in all delivery units that means you will have reduce costs to get to the best, it is to have the same level of full timers , everyone one the same attendaces incluing saturdays , the same level of earnings , the same quality on door to door , the same delivery method.
Having everyone start at the same time wont necessariry mean that its to your members benefit.
Lets just say that work for your office was available at 0730 from the walk sequencing machines in your delivery office but because the unions policy is that we all must all start at the same time that we have to wait till 10 00 when the last batch of work arrives in the delivery office last in the que for walk sequencing. Dont you think those members in the 07 30 office or the 0800 or 0900 being complaining why they cant start when their work is ready.
Or alternativerly based on this option we might end up with 60% of the work force in a 0600 and 40% when the final walk sequncing has been done for the last office at 10 00.
So I would say once it is explained to members on that basis they will not be supporting one standrised start time.

It is not a case of supporting one thing or another it is a case of understanding and dealing with the flaws in both.
Many members, due to commitments outside of Royal Mail will be unable to comply with your vision of later starts.
They will have there lives turned upside down and possibly be forced to leave RM solely due to the geographical position of their D.O.
Can you honestly say you are happy with that?

I dread to think - do you know what you are saying here - once again you highlight the problem that besets this union - it is only about solidarity and unity when it suits you.The truth! wrote:Be very careful what you wish for.

You know something I think I actually give in because with people like you at the helm I sincerely hope we can all swim or we are in a submarine.

Re: National Negotiations – Extended into next week!
Of course by taking that action with the rurals will mean the urabn IPS delivery duties wil stay on IPS for longer thus cancelling out some of that excessive job and finish they make I imagine they would sort for the full 90 mins as scheduled.
Certainly time to do so when on a 9 hour day!!!
Some may recall 0500 starts and 6 day week giving a nice early finsh time, 6am start, 5 day week and longs and shorts now mean the finish time is a lot later and the membership do not want to finish at 3pm on the long days.

lets just all give up now!
it seems that the CWU HQ has given up and has accepted RM's vision of the future
as the BORG say " RESISITANCE IS FUTILE" - YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED INTO THE COLLECTIVE

Good luck to your DIV and Branch in the next few years cause your gonna need it! FFS! You come on here and say your menmbers dont give a f*ck about others as long as they finish early! You are overstaffed so consider longer delivery spans to hold the status quo in your office even though as a branch PO you are ment to represent ALL your branch! Are you taking the P*SS?! I think the One good thing is you are standing down as a Political Officer but sad to say the members you represent are going to pay for years for yours and your branches inaction! Way to go, you will go out on a HIGH but only if you have been smoking pot.Big Daz wrote:Transfer and your dreams will become reality

Re: National Negotiations – Extended into next week!
linkin, you have totally misunderstood my comments
A political officer deals with political stuff not IR, as PO i have nothing to do with area aggrements or what goes in any D.O other than my own. Not a difficult concept to understand, but you appear to struggle with it.
Of course it so terrible that the MC are now walksorting more mail , of course Im the big bad guy for letting IPS mail levels drop. Of course it was evil of me to get plenty of resouce into IPS when nights went. Of course its so evil of me that I openly state facts that IPS at my D.O finishes earlier than it did a few years ago day in day out.
Of course Im really bad for wanting to get my rural duties more in harmony with each other, ive got rural duty holding members who belive that some rural duties are a lot easier/smaller than others. That is the case and in part thats due to IPS lasting nowhere near as long as when the current rural duty stucture came into being.
Im so sorry that since pay and mod 2007 brought in 6am starts early starting has rapidly increased which is due to mail being sent down by the mail centre early enough for members to have enough work in the form of walksorted mail to start early.
At no point have i said my members dont give a f*** about others, please do not go making things up!!!! However it seems that we may have no choice due to sequened mail, once a aggrement is sent out to vote on/published we will know for certain. I presum that RML will havea criteria for decding which DO has their mail put through the machine first and the members due to not wanting later starts will want our D.O mail put through first. Will that happen? Ive no idea. But I have a duty to make sure the views of the members in my D.O are heard by senior managers and reps.
I want a fair criteria for deciding which mail goes through first and who goes last and who goes in between and if that criteria means my D.O does not get its mail put through first so be it.

Talented?
Well he gets voted in each year,
Just a shame about the turnout!!! Im sure youve got a few opinions on that.
Still there are many things happening beyond my control and if i get slagged off for expressing a opinon on this site then so be it.
Who would have ever thought a local rep expressing the views and defending the views of his members would get slagged off?
