We don’t have enough DPR staff and now the posties are being asked to take parcels instead of a side of mail. Don’t know what the hell is going on.

As far as I know from reading on here they use the RM app on the PDA which puts them in order and gives an estimated time to deliver them all so you'd get variables such as open plan estates would be loads more than trekking out to rural farms etc.
Actually I reckon it'd be good to use that app as you should be safe from a bell end of a manager telling you that you can do a ridiculous amount over what's actually possible.

The app allowance is ludicrously slow for a town road it's not even that good for the rurals, 30 an hours is easily achievable on a town round wwith housing estates you are familiar with where parcels can be left in porches etc.

Terrible situation in our office over the past few days. We had some snow earlier in the week, that wasn't really an issue but when it rained for a time on Tuesday, then froze overnight, everywhere is an ice rink. We were instructed not the take mail, only parcels. Just parcels alone took me to my time which is fine with me. Today the instruction was parcels only and whatever letters you can get done. There's a sense that these USO trials are not trials, they've already started the new way of working - it definitely seems that managers are not interested in letters at all. Also been an overtime ban in place since 27th December too (no working days off or claiming extended). Dire situation.

I scanned my core route to a DPR the other day as only had parcels and it was averaging one drop every 2 mins.
Went an hour over what time it said it should have taken.
No shortcuts doing the job by the book.

Can be between 20 and 30 once you hit the road. All depends on what kind of streets and addresses you are going to. If you can pull up outside and just drop it in the porch a few times round a residential area you’ll get more done. If you have a lot of pedestrian streets, terrace streets where nobody is at home, flats that you can’t access then this will slow you right down.

I started half an hour earlier in the run up to Christmas and got out before 9 every day, I’ve had 2 quarter to tens so far this week

Parcels numbers seem no lower now than at the start of peak but ever F/T postie is working 30 mins less a day and overtime is also being restricted. RM is becoming a parcel.co. which occasional delivers the odd letter!!

You do wonder what will happen if the USO changes are agreed, as you can well imagine the DPR drivers will be told to make sure all the Tracked etc are delivered and just delivery the IC letters if they have any spare time.
