it appears to me that the chiefs in the cwu are on a sticky wicket and not a clue on how to play the next ball
i get that they need to talk but it's going absolutely no where, and quite frankly the cwu will cease to be a recognised trade union within rmg or whatever we're called now,
i don't know any in my d/o who have any faith or confidence in them anymore, my respect for the high up team fell when that prick held up that childish poster on the 1st select committee meeting, bunch of amateurs,
just give us a vote on the proposals and go from there, either way it appears we are all fecked and most looking for a way out
Will you be still thinking the same tomorrow afternoon if the CWU announce a reasonable deal? None of us really know if the CWU is being out manoeuvred by IDS or has them by the short and curlies, the threat of administration doesn't seem to have had any noticeable effect.

no because there won't be a reasonable one, there maybe one to say "feck it they win" though

No idea how you expect things to have gone. Your biggest gripe is the communications dude holding up a 'vote yes' sign.

Try making an agreement with a bunch of people who say one thing and do another, who take Union reps out of the workplace on trumped up charges, who lie to the government select committee twice, who join you in a statement to say they will halt revisions then don't. That's impossible to stop.

You either stick with the union or bend over.

My assumption is that Royal Mail are not going to agree to a good deal with us, they probably want us to reject any deal, then they probably want us to strike and then they think we'll get fed up losing money that we'll all just cave into a poor deal and at the same time kill off the union as the workforce will go against their strike plans.

Royal Mail have no suitable deal for us.

For me - I think we should carry on striking until Royal Mail give in or go into administration.

I am not interested in their plans which sound like I will have to walk further each day for close to minimum wage and further down the line potentially have to buy my own van to deliver for them.

That's it in essence - but don't forget to add 'walk in the dark until job completed in winter'

I think their aim is to convince the powers that be that the USO isn't workable in its current form. So the walking aspect of the job could be less in the future if you have a 3 day USO.

You could have mixed duties of say walking 3 days in the week and parcels the other 2 days.

What do you think the future would hold for non drivers if it was a 3 day uso?

Ringfenced walking/hct duties? Near to the office?

Even if it's a 3 day USO it'll likely be deliver walks every other day, so you could still make up a 5 day week from that.

Where does it state the threat of administration has been removed??

The only thing I have seen is a brief editorial from Sky News and nothing official
When was there ever an 'official' announcement from RM/IDS about administration or from any attributable IDS/RM source
being implemented? Just nudges and whispers from the financial hacks.

Nothing here: https://www.internationaldistributionss ... -releases/

and nothing here: https://www.londonstockexchange.com/new ... mecode=ids

I would have thought if administration was odds on then the board would have had to have made an official announcement
through the lse - which they don't appear to have done. The only RNS are DK increasing his stake in the past week or so.

There’s a lot of non drivers.I was wondering if there would be enough h.c.t jobs to go round especially if they reduce the u.s.o ?

You’re right on all points. What I would add and what RM have missed is theirs is no business left with 100000 fecked off people working there. Nobody I work with has any motivation anymore, without a reasonable deal your onto a loser for that reason alone. They may as well turn the lights off and lock the doors if they don’t realise that soon.

if administration was being considered then the board would make an announcement with its annual report to the city and AGM.

Think the last thing that was said was that if no agreement was reached with the CWU by Wednesday, was a distinct possibility

In part it'll be down to if RM enters administration, as if RM did enter administration, our contracts effectively wouldn't be worth the paper they're printed on

IDS uk operation, royal mail and to some extent parcelforce are basically a negative value for the company. Selling us down the river to whoever pay bigger price will definitely boost share prices. How much I have no idea but they will keep growing I think.

Their biggest problem is the reputation. IDS most likely woul like to continue to trade in the UK given massive investment in parcel hubs. This dispute may as well mean they won't be able to take off as previously mentioned their parcel delivery future is heavily linked to the service we have provided for many years and the brand image we established. They are about to throw it all away. However in the long term they will recover as people will forget and by cutting the cost to the bone they may be able to be very competitive especially if they retain vast network stripped from royal mail.

For us it will mean job losses and the end of company as we know. Our postal service will remain heavily disrupted and the blame will be shifted towards the government. They could take us back and save it but they won't at least not in current state. They may have no choice as there may not be anyone will to place a bid. Vesa?

Time will tell. Next couple of weeks will be exciting.

So here we are, knowhere near an agreement. It's obvious by now, one party or the other will have to wave the white flag for an agreement which is never going to happen. No doubt we will get the usual Friday 5pm update tomorrow that talks will be had over the weekend into next weekend with Acas, but this time over chocolate digestives
