I had a narrow escape today. Door was closed but dog was in the garden round the back, it usually sticks it head out the cat flap and starts barking as soon as I go through the gate. Opened the gate no dog, took 2 steps and heard it coming, turned, dived through the gate throwing it closed behind me, just in time. It backed of a few feet so I through the bolt home on the gate, then the owner came out.
"Don't worry it only wants to play"
"Yeah well, rip the b*****s of the postie isn't my favourite game especially if I'm the postie."
"No mate he doesn't bite."
Roll up my sleeve and show him some bruising on my arm.
"So what are these then."
He'd nearly snapped my arm of last week when I was handing their mail to his wife last week, over the gate as I wasn't going in as the door was open.
"Oh, he's never done that before."

Heard it before mate, enjoy your trip to the DO to collect your mail.
P.S nearly poohed my pants!

Compared to Leiwolf I was lucky, get well soon, hope your not too bad. Your DOM should put arrangements in place for them to collect their mail. Make sure you report the incident and I'm sure your H&S rep or your union rep will insist that deliveries are suspended until your safety is assured

I would also suggest taking pictures of your hand as evidence, just in case it's needed in future.

I had a great start to the day because whenever I can in at the correct starting time almost everyone had already arrived but no post had :dance all standing around waiting for the lorry to unload (serves them right for coming in early).

And to really make my day whenever I was going home two of them were still there because they couldn't get their cars out (their cars being blocked in by one the guys on a really heavy duty who comes in on his time and doesn't rush around) :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle pacing around looking at the car muttering under their breath (I nearly crashed because I was laughing so hard) :left: :left:

Met a right idiot today. I was delivering to a 22, my mind skipped ahead whilst thinking of the next house for some reason and i put 24's in with 22's. Honest mistake, rarely happens but there were quite alot for 24 so it would look worse than it should. I get half way down the road to about 40, and this old man comes storming down the road like the end of the world was nigh. " You've just put all of these letters in my bloody box and they're for different adresses" and while walking away under his breath " christ almighty..." I couldn't even get a sorry, my mistake in by the time he'd turned around and stormed off. Needless to say i didn't really feel like apologising after his attitude. I satisfied my curiosity , all the letters were in fact for 24 so he'd walked past his next door and half the street for no reason at all. I walked back to 24 , shoved them all through and he went irate again claiming i was delivering them all wrong out of laziness. I just gave a quick " mate they're all for this house, the house you just walked straight past a minute ago"

Needless to say i think i'll get a complaint, it's what old people do :D but i don't get people like that. I'd never seen him before, why get so pissed off over a silly thing like that. You'd think if they were ever so disgruntled at such a thing they'd just chuck them in the bin.

The world is full of w*****s, mate. By law of averages, we should find ourselves not only encountering the odd one or two, but having the misfortune to
have the odd one or two as bosses. :chuckle

How About?

Post by coaster »

A few weeks ago I had an irate women come to the door, I had a parcel for her so I knocked on the door. She came to the door, snatched the parcel and claimed I knocked 'too loudly' and could have woken her baby up. She gave me a load of abuse so I kindly pointed out that next time I could just 739 her and she can go to the DO herself if she wanted and thus problem solved in future cases. She slammed the door on me in a huff.

If her baby's sleep was that precious she could have at least left a note on the door for people without mindreading abilities.

Know what you mean Dohnut, those letters that leave bits all over your cuff - try this - use a plastic wrapped flat such as a thin magazine from as late in the walk as possible and just stick it on the back of each bundle you are holding - as most of the water that damages the end letters has run down your sleeve they won't be as bad 'cos they run off the plastic wrap - otherwise break your bundles when setting up wherever there is a similar item.

I do it slightly differently - I try to bundle up with the last letter of each bundle being a plastic wrapped item, sometimes means you have uneven bundles but its less hassle than have a missort all the time. However what about backed bundles I still have not worked one out for that without doing what you do.
