I don't profess to be in the know but I was always suspicious of the done deal so soon after the injunction, followed by the joint statement, then the joint statement on the pension:

LETTER FROM BRENDAN BARBER TO DAVE WARD

"TUC, 12th October 2007

Dear Dave

CWU/RM Dispute

I am writing to confirm the outcome of the negotiations conducted over recent days under my chairmanship.

I attach the two proposed agreements resulting from the talks covering firstly pay and modernisation and secondly pensions.

As you know these texts represent the culmination of an immensely detailed and protracted negotiating process and need to be considered as final and open to no further amendment.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN UNDERSTOOD AND ACCEPTED BY BOTH PARTIES THAT BOTH AGREEMENTS NEED TO BE CONCLUDED SIMULTANEOUSLY. IF ONE SHOULD NOT PROVE ACCEPTABLE THEN BOTH AGREEMENTS WILL FALL.

I hope that both parties are able to confirm to me urgently their acceptance of these agreements.
I am grateful for everyone's patience and co-operation in this protracted negotiation.

Yours sincerely,

Brendan Barber.

and under the terms above I don't think I was wrong.

D2D - well in fairness to everyone this is specific to deliveries and I don't know if a tacit agreement is in place but if consolidation is a vote I think it will go through - totally unfair of course, I've been a delivery officer and I would be incensed if it was agreed.

Sometimes DV you just have to trust your instincts. So many lies and half truths and spin. Honestly given all events do you think this is a good deal?

Some things to ponder on?
Lovejoy has his point of view and I am grateful for his input into the long term effort in providing info that CWU should have given us
Others have disagreed with with his opinions in regard to the vote.
What I would like to know is What Is Happening now in units accross the country.
What is happening in our branch is totally in regard to RMs interpretation of the agreement. Executive Action.
Even the DOMS cant agree how to run their units. They have to toe the line of RM HQ. The MC managers know their jobs on are on the line if they dont do as they are told from above. IR representation is totally disregarded.
I ask the question " If we are to agree at local levels, how do RMs edicts overule any sensible resolutions of disagreement". We, the members, do not see anything in this agreement, that gives the IR representatives any hope of having meaningful input to local agreement
