£19 a week equates to 3 x 1.67p for 380 houses but will it just be paid just for the next 52 weeks, in which case we will be losing £988 a year thereafter, or will it be paid indefinately ?

It won't be £19 or £30 and it will be paid indefinately.
In order to be acceptable to members it has to take into account the loss of any allowances like ESA AND the loss of potential D2D payments.
As well as this it has to compensate members for the extra workload lifting the cap will bring.
£19 or even £30 do not even come close to that. :cuppa

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

UPDATE ON ROYAL MAIL/CWU NEGOTIATIONS

Given growing speculation surrounding our negotiations with Royal Mail we would ask Branches to convey the following CWU statement to our representatives and members:-

"Following 3 months of talks facilitated by Roger Poole, the Independent Chair and ACAS, the negotiating process between Royal Mail and CWU has now reached its final phase.

Both parties believe significant progress has been made. A document, will this week, be considered by the Postal Executive Committee".

Further information will be issued in due course.

Yours sincerely

.. what is a month between friends! ...

The speculation and rumour over the previous 4 months has providing for some lively debate. I just wonder how much more exciting it can get! I trust Postman has spare capacity to carry all the extra traffic that Armageddon (sorry, the Agreement) is likely to provoke.

Guess you must be John Terry or Ashley Cole, then :whistle

Shouldn't you be posting in the Blue Shirts forum ? :chuckle

Seriously though, I am not a manager. I chose my moniker precisely because my views are often contrary to those of the majority of posters, and so I thought if people are going to probably assume I'm a manager, I may as well pick a name that reinforces the jumping-to-conclusions brigade.

I don't trust RM management. But after the ambiguous wording in 2007's P&M agreement which allowed RM to interpret things differently to the CWU, I'm not sure I trust them too much either.

All I'm saying is this: in the 21st century, some way has to be found to avoid strikes which damage the business that employs us. I need my job; my kids need me to keep that job, and I need to not keep p!ssing money away out on strike because the people at the top of RM and at the top of the CWU can't work together for everyone's mutual benefit ! This agreement has to tackle the industrial relations environment that is cutting us off from new contracts that big posters won't put our way because of the ever-present threat of strikes.

Think of it from a customer's viewpoint. If you could get your electricity from a cheap supplier, or a slightly more expensive one who sometimes had an interrupted supply, which one would you choose ??????????????
You seem to have got me wrong, i don't support people who idle away time or do their job to a poor standard. I believe in doing the job correctly which includes working paid hours only to a good and fair standard NOT going in early, using the proper means for delivering my duty NOT doing it in my own car, these two points have been the major reason for the degregation of our terms and conditions :hmmmm .... I would be very surprised if you didn't participate in one of the mentioned or perhaps both??..... It's your choice but i'm not prepared to just lie down and be ripped off and be abused by Royal Mail, i want a deal that is workable ,fair and good for R.M it's employees and OUR CUSTOMERS..... We seem to have lost sight of if we do the job well, can be trusted and are efficient providing a good service we will be No1, not just agree with the way R.M are going, cheap and chearfull with no regard to customers or employees as long as they are making a profit :no no . A happy, fairly rewarded workforce equals an excellent service which will generate profit and security for employees, this will not be acheived by brown nosing to managers, being frightened and threatened, being prepared to accept any deal so long as we have a job :cry .

1. What does the 75% FT 25% PT mean? How does this pan out over a working week?
2. Does thiis mean a change in the way the days off each week are allecated? If so what happens if like in our office you have a long weekend off in the next 2 weeks for example with plans of going away or even more so having something planned months in advance and paid for knowing that you have a long weekend on a particular date. Then the manager turns round and says the days off are changing and this is how its going to work only to find that what you had before is no longer.ie no long weekend.
3. What happens with Saturdays?
4. When is this agreement being taken to the workers for them to vote on.
5. I took this job 5 years ago thinking it would be a job for the rest of my life working round my family and being there for the kids,it was an ideal job and still is to some extent. Now I find myself frustrated and sometime angry with the way this organisation is run and looking for a way out of this nightmare of a job. They seem to treat everyone like dirt and as far as the seniority ruling goes, well!! I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life,it seems like something that went out with the ark. Also the length you have to go to sometimes just to get a day off is stupid and that is based on seniority as well. What a load of C%?&.Its about time the senior management at the RM woke up and realised this is the 21st century.I'll be glad when I'm out of it!!!
