Re: Have to vote No
No one working in collections can vote yes these duties will be carved up and put on delivery duties with only a few remaining.

Re: Have to vote No
we have and will get shafted further regardless of yes or no
i voted no because it is a very poor deal, the contempt they have shown is beyond belief
they gave away all our money and will continue to do so going forward
they still flood the shop floors with agency staff after many have left, i'd estimate 20 out off 100 at ours this year alone, many with 15/30 years service
they employ managers who have the skills of a caveman who have no clue on on how to manage people
it will be interesting to see what the cwu leaders do if a no result, they are already out of ideas and i for 1 have zero faith in them

Re: Have to vote No
I understand your thoughts and feelings but this is too serious to vote with just your heart. The consequences that the CWU have spelt out seem plausible to me and will be instant in my view.guardianangel wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 20:16Vote yes and its the start of losing all those terms, its not about the lump sum for me ,its not time to waiver if you think the deal is bad you have to vote with your heart on this one.Chitchat wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 18:44I was a definite no vote. But now I'm just not sure what way to vote. Do I like this deal?... absolutely not! do I honestly believe that this CWU leadership can get us a better deal? Not a chance.... it seems they have given in. And without a strong union leading the march for an improved pay offer, then what's the point in voting no?
And for me it's always been more about the terms than it has about lump sums.

they obviously have a better insight to the company finances than me, but even when they announced the £1m per week losses i still see them spunking money up the wall every day on things that would even make peter ridsdale's eyes water when he was at leeds!
our office have put ft overtime ban on early starts, yet come 9am loads of agency staff doing bits and bobs and to be honest quite a lot of nothing

Re: Have to vote No
This has been going on for years already. I was late turn reserve at my old office but the duties I was covering kept getting lasped or taken out so in the end I went on delivery.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 20:28No one working in collections can vote yes these duties will be carved up and put on delivery duties with only a few remaining.
The office I’m at now collections already have 2 hours of delivery work on them if they didn’t you couldn’t justify the full time duties.

The important word there is ‘group’ we are haemorrhaging money but other group members are taking up the slack. We have just had our latest revision kick in. Over 800 calls on every town duty and we are still making time because the traffic is ridiculously light.postslippete wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 19:55LouBarlow wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 19:29There have been so many of them that they have passed me by. Do me a favour and just lay out a few for us here. It would be good if you could forward them to the union negotiators, so as when the vote comes back a no, they can get back around the table with this new weapon of proven financial opulence, and use it to thrash out a better deal.postslippete wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 18:14
I have given plenty of facts on this forum regarding the financial position of the company but it's up to people if they clearly choose to see otherwise.

This is what Keith Williams said to in the shareholder meeting after the Union's agreement.
* retained earnings of £3.8 billion
* access to liquidity of £1.7 billion
* Group balance sheets remain strong (despite the impairment of assets)
There is also a lot riding on the changes with a plan that shows a return to profitability in 2023-24 and for both companies in profit in 2024-25
No door to doors for the last two weeks. Costs rising in all respects. If you think we are a profitable company right now I don’t think we will ever agree. Things have to change and they will with or without this agreement.

Over 800 calls on every town duty and still making time? Well, all I can say Lou is that if your office is still making time on this then I would expect even more calls being added via lapsing. That is still in the agreement btw.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Have to vote No
Oh, and I should also add that COMs will be receiving decent bonuses as well for implementing the revisions. This is on top of the £900 that they are getting if this deal goes through.
So much for the company not having any money....

We are made to stay till our finish time, then clock out. Our week is arranged so as Wednesday and Thursday are longer days, and last week we must have made a good 40 minutes. We start on time and have our breaks too. I have never seen the job so dead in all my time working here. No bulk postings for ages. Door to doors have dried up completely. I’m amazed that others insist they are as busy as ever.aiden01 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 22:29How are you still making time scan in an out not in your office yet.LouBarlow wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 21:22The important word there is ‘group’ we are haemorrhaging money but other group members are taking up the slack. If you vote yes its going to become a really s**t job,you can go out and find one of them anywhere today,i'll take a punt on a NO but if its a yes and becomes s**t i'll just go and find another s**t one.timbo1234 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2023, 20:38I understand your thoughts and feelings but this is too serious to vote with just your heart. Are there any vacancies in your office at Greendale?? Credit to your managers for insisting that you all work your hours though
There's too many posties that still want to job and knock and our COMs turn a blind eye to things like ghost overtime and people coming in early for FREE. Even more impressive that every one in your office are taking breaks which is almost unheard of at my depot. We rarely not get any D2Ds for the week; there are always farm foods or dominos pizza leaflets to deliver nearly every week. It is summer and work isn't as busy so all we get is additional lapse (on top of the already extended duties) to try and make up the hours. You couldn't make it up!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

i'll take a punt on a NO
If it was a reasonable punt, a punt with at least a chance of a win I would join you but it's not.
The bookie, the owner, the trainer, the jockey and even the horse is telling you it's a mug's bet.
I think even your heart is.

We are short staffed currently. The irony of it is we are successful. Without getting too specific as I have some quite antagonistic stalkers on here, but we were one of the best performing units in the country. That was pre-revision though so we will have to see how that changes things.
