Leaving with annual leave still left
Morning all, just a quick 1, if we leave the business and still have annual leave remaining do we receive any payments for it? Thanks

No as annual leave is pro rata, therefore, if you leave the business, part year, having taken too many holidays you will have to pay it back.

Re: Leaving with annual leave still left
I left mid year and they said I owed them £17 in annual leave as I had taken one hour and so many minutes too much. It had "WO" on my last payslip which I thought stood for "Written Off"....but this is RM, silly me.
When I got my payment for the shares sold that were still held in trust they took it out of that
I rang HR to query what WO stood for, they said it was a code.
So I then asked what would have happened to the £17 had I not had the share money, they replied that in that scenario they would pursue the £17 "by other means".
That was after 25 years unblemished service. BUT, then again - I am not a shareholder.

Re: Leaving with annual leave still left
But if you leave having taken under your pro rata allowance you'll get it paid back or it will be taken off your leave date. Say if you want to leave at end of a week on Saturday and you have 10 hrs leave still to take, your last day would then be Friday and they'd owe you the balance of what was left part day. Divide your a/l allowance by 52 to see how many hrs you accrue per week worked. See how many weeks you've worked since 1st week in April multiply by the previously worked out figure and then see if the annual leave you have already taken is over or under this figure in hrs, then you'll know where you are.drfeelgood wrote: ↑13 Sep 2022, 10:22No as annual leave is pro rata, therefore, if you leave the business, part year, having taken too many holidays you will have to pay it back.![]()

As I head towards a rest day filled with a couple of interviews, this was something I was going to ask as well.
Looks like a few of us have seen the writing on the wall.

Re: Leaving with annual leave still left
If you still have leave remaining, don't be fobbed off by your manager and told HR will fix it.
They don't fix it until your manager has given them your start date and leave date, plus details of leave remaining on the system. I think HR then look at all leave taken over the years and calculate anything you haven't taken.
When I left it took two months for payment to be made because HR hadn't received the right info from my boss- and the amount of time I thought I was owed on the basis of what was shown on the app, turned out to be wrong by almost double - that was an unexpected bonus. Always worth chasing if you don't get it on your final pay slip.
