Quiet Quitting

Just heard about this new buzz word Quiet Quitting all the youngs are doing it . Really thought it had been invented at Royal Mail over the last couple of years check it out

I suppose it's less controversial than saying "working to rule"

Until recently I would never have considered doing just the.bare minimum expected of me at work and never thought that I ever would. Simon and co have changed that.

This is just buzzword propaganda. Young people are carrying society on their backs whilst being given no stake in society. Insecure, underpaid jobs, over-priced rental properties while they can’t afford a house, and a gradual erosion in the quality of every little thing that older generations got the benefit of (from the NHS to higher education to job security to policing to climate). “Quiet Quitting” is probably only the beginning, loud quitting will be here before long, followed by social unrest, and possibly even the worse things that often follow that.

It's the same concept as "setting boundaries" which was the buzzword a few years back. Working your time, taking your breaks and refusing to do things that go beyond your job description for no extra reward shouldn't be considered "quitting", I prefer the term "working"

Well I did not realise that I must be a trend setting cool guy in with the young, I have been doing this since they got rid of cars on delivery, whenever that was.

Yes. It has a name now? Been doing that for the past two years. Was difficult at first to change your mindset but I’ve most certainly got there now.

It's a big thing in China amongst the young.
But they take it a step further- they basically do nothing, don't contribute to society in any way.
The ultimate protest at being shafted.

I can't believe it, I thought it was just me been in the office twice this week and haven't posted a single letter upped my p739's because our enquiry office has been shut ,think I've spent more Hours in weatherspoons than the D.O this week

I did the same earlier this year. I’ve pretty much given up on things at work, tired of fighting to be put on the round I should be on, saddened by the holiday pay situation, angered by the way we are treated by management and to a lesser extent I’m frustrated by the decisions made at times by the union.

For me nowadays it’s simply start time, breaks, finish time.

Nowadays due to quiet quitting:
*I get moved about so I just take my time and never cut corners. A lot don’t like to work with me anymore because the first thing I tell them is I need to be done on time (it’s pretty much open docket here). Christmas will be fun.

*I missed out on holiday pay so I simply don’t do overtime (approx 10 hours this year compared to 1000 hours last year).

*My line managers are ok. It’s more the Simon’s of the business I’m angry at. His time will come.

If you lot aren't careful, they will have you fearful of calling it anything at all.

Cut off, work to time, working my paid hours only, working safely, I've used them all, still do depending on which one my mood takes me.

It all amounts to the same thing.

Regular overtime is more difficult to get nowadays as they are very picky as to what and where they pay plus it's often messy in delivery offices due to chronic understaffing and recently striking. I realised recently more and more people started doing regular overtime wherever they can, some gave up as mentioned above, some work two jobs. Still Thompson claim we are paid 40% more than competition.

It's more to do with the feeling of compelled to do overtime because the business needs a project done by a set time rather than not doing overtime even if you need the money.
Most rounds would require extended overtime on a daily basis if everyone followed the rules and stopped rushing around.
