I was told yesterday that the agencies have been informed that they can offer 40 hour contracts but RM can still only offer p/t contracts to new and existing staff, RM goes from bad to worse! Although at present no office will be set up to allow 8 hour shifts, unless they are just being sent out to deliver parcels during their shifts each day?

If you turn up for work at most of my local DO's at 11am you'll be sat waiting around for at least a couple of hours for a van to arrive!!

isn't that an inflation matching pay rise?

or they think these workers deserve more than us because they are working until 7pm? (I should say they'll prob be working until 9pm the way Royal Mail overload you with work).

Correct, but still a decent increase up from the original advert which was £11.50 per hour including Sundays.

And still the mail is not delivered wonder why backlog mayhem next week all for spending a small fortune on vans and 10,000 to 20,000 Agency workers at £20 an hour rough guess. Is this really working for Royal Mail or Royal (Special delivery and a few 24 Tracked) Mail as it is now known.

Seems they’re already shafting new starters for standard posties though. Already struggling to recruit so what shall we do? Reduce the hourly rate.

Those hourly rates are quite a shock It highlights were Simon wants to go with his "Big Shiney Parcel Machine". It's definitely a race to the bottom, sacrificing working men/women's Standards of Living just to fed the greedy money grabbing machine that this Business has become since Privatisation.

I certainly hope none of the youngsters bother to take him up on his derisory offer.

Bet they're not getting it! After all they'll be starting NEW contracts with different/shite T & Cs.
