Another Stage 3 Interview

Got the paperwork through today for another stage 3, looks like I'm probably for the chop on Thursday. This is the 2nd Stage 3 since November. Think I''ve probably pushed the attendance procedure too far now, had a really sh@t year health wise. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome op in March (31 days off), Food poisoning, June (3 days), Feeling really ill resulting in Blood Transfusion, September (34 days), Hospital Tests/Operation, December (20 days). Not sure whether to jump before I'm pushed.

Hey keep in their. Make sure you have your Area Rep representing you at the interview, it sounds like you have some major mitigation, and the managers have to take that into consideration at the interview, there is not alot anyone can do if they are in hospital, the worse case scenario is that the idiots could dismiss you but if what is correct what you have said, i would think that you would have a very good appeal.

Keep your head up and let us know what the outcome is

Your sick absence record has been referred to the Employee Health Service Doctor who has forwarded a report and there does not appear to be any underlying health reasons for your absences

Where the f**k do they get the Doctors from??? I take it a blood transfusion is'nt an underlying health problem then.

Good luck. like everyone else says cant see them dismiss you with your history of hospital visits. Im sure you will have a good rep with you who will hopefully look after you. I read another thread on here somewhere of ones just resign b4 they hear the outcome as they dont want dismissed on the record.

Kind of true,but whilst not wishing to sway anyones decision, we do not exist in a vacuum, and anecdotal evidence suggests that the wider world is perfectly aware of the conditions that prevail within RM at this point in time.

Sorry but it sounds if RM are trying to wriggle out of something on a vague/obscure technicality as they're under pressure from Senior /HR /Area " It will and it must be 60/40%"

The Doctors tell RM what they want hear . It is very American in the way Don't give a Toss operate . Just don't want to pay anyone up . In the real world it's better that they avoid turning everything into 3 part melodramas , ending up on the internet , in the papers and in Tribunals .

BUT !---I'd shop that Corporate Whore of a Quack to the General Medical Council , he'll be blaming RM then ? , RM's arrogance can be it's weakest link. They use these things to settle petty vendettas , aparently that's how you deal with troublemakers & personalty clashes . Trouble is the Chairman , His CEO, DUM's and his lackies don't have any personalties .

RM are under orders to make things difficult , always operated that way , just got worse according to a alleged e-mail., they'd love you to jump as constructive dismissal is notoriously difficult to prove and RM won't like you telling tales out of class .

Any reasonable company would look at the reasons & say that you've been very unlucky. But.........we're talking Royal Mail here!
Stick at it. If they dismiss you I would think that you'd have a good case for an ET. If your sick record before all this started was good, then get your rep to play on that. State firmly that the hospital thought it right to admit you so it's hardly likely that you were skiving & tell them that you would really much rather have been able to work than be so ill.

A few days! it shud be that way but ones in our place wait 2-3 weeks, sometimes more

I think it will depend on your "previous" - if that isn't too good it will probably be good night Vienna - but either way, DO NOT RESIGN - the chances are you will be given a leaving date some 4 weeks hence which will give you time to get organised and look around.

If the stage three is solely on your recent absences then I would suggest there is ample scope for leniency. It may pay dividends to get a letter from your current GP outlining your recent health problems and the justification for your absences together with a suggestion that there is little chance of a recurrence.

As you work in the callers office I would make a suggestion that a person who is stressed is more likely to suffer ill health and that a change of scenery would also be beneficial to a sustained period of good health - it may well kill two birds with one stone?

Thanks everyone for your support, I will let you know any outcome tomorrow night when my shift finishes. One thing is for sure I am not going to apologise for being ill as that was totally out of my control.
