No, they are are supposed to be made outside of working hours however if you can work something out where you can break off and return without impacting your duty I don’t see why not

Depends what it is for talk to a manager some may be ok with it because of illness themselves or family asking costs nothing.

If you have an ok manager and ours is, certainly when it comes to stuff like this. I had to go for a scan at hospital, you cannot pick and choose those, he let me go early and no time to repay, GP appointments you can make outside of your working hours. If it is a hospital appointment, you can't normally pick and choose those, a decent manager will let you swap your day off, some will give you special leave unpaid, one of our lads came in, did the early part of his job, went off to the hospital and came back to do the delivery part of his job. They got rid of his specials, a result all were happy with, the guy didn't loose any money and the manager didn't have to pay out overtime to cover the work.
