With ever increasing "lapsed" walks and delivering on unfamilliar teritory, i am more and more pissed off with the amount of houses that feel not displaying a house number on their property is ok, as long as its called dunroamin, or some other ultra funny name. maybe customers feel "the postie knows" they have no idea of the s**t storm thats brewing! however they still feel need to put fancy pretty numbers on their wheelie bin ! as if getting their own bin back is more important than receiving the crap we bring everyday. these, often very nice people, upwardly mobile, who pull up in a 4x4 with a couple of kids just after you have almost recovered from laying on their moist, wet, recently paved driveway after the low level letterbox has repeatedly "spat out" p739, soggy pizza menues,£4000 off your next bed leflets and anything else you try to insert thanks to enegy saving overly zelous drought excluding brushes. don't get me started on ring doorbells

If they have a low letterbox & I can see they are in I knock & tell them straight "I can't get down their" some have installed a box on the wall, no number big question mark with your best pen, eventually they will ask you why the question mark.

Whole rows of houses with no house number or street name just the development site name at the entrance to the site. The new residents don't know what's where either.

How hard is it for the residents, once they've worked out the numbering, to put signs up showing the house number in their windows?

a bill in the house of commons was passed to stop low level letterboxes on new builds a few years back,
however it doesn't stop older houses buying a new door with one

Exactly the problem is people getting new doors - 90% are right on the bottom
They must cost a lot but they can’t spend a few more on a box on the wall

Dunno about where you lot are, but a disproportionate amount of houses round our way are owned by landlords, anything that gets replaced is clearly the cheapest thing possible. Invariably this means low letterboxes and siliconed-to-some-crumbly-brick house numbers that fall off after a few weeks
