New staff getting uniform but not long serving Postie's

Yes. My fleece could have done with a wash around March time. But I never bothered as we were supposed to get new stuff in April. Anyway new stuff hasn’t materialised and fleece still not washed. But do I care?? Not a jot. Hahha. Totally has enough.

Surely out of respect for yourself you would wash your fleece if its filthy. rm could'nt care what you wear as long as mail is delivered.

We get £120 a year maybe slightly more to clean uniform.wether its old or new.

Why give a uniform to a workforce you want gone?

Much better to give it to new staff that can't reminisce about the old days and are more likely to accept changes as the norm.

Again, I have said this several times, the more you wear your own kit for work, the happier you are making the shareholders - the very ones you are looking to walk out against! You couldn't make this up!

Employees who wear their own kit are saving the company literally thousands of pounds in uniform costs, no wonder kit is hard to come by, no wonder that employees are not challenged by management about non uniform - the company are probably thinking now "Don't order this, don't order that, they'll just moan but then provide their own". Win win for the shareholders!

As for the poster who said their fleece could have had a wash in March but still hasn't, take a look at yourself, that is disgusting. I personally think that some RM posties are an absolute disgrace when out on the streets. I saw recently a postie wearing a blue shirt with the sleeves cut off to make it like a vest....but with all the cotton threads still hanging, one white sock, one purple sock, black shorts and white trainers. He was a disgrace, not only to RM but to himself as well. You don't see any other courier personnel looking like that, even those with crap terms and conditions. Shame also on the DOM that allowed him to leave the office looking like that, but having said that the DOM probably didn't notice as they would have been pouring over the previous days PDA actuals

Take a look around your colleagues in your office and note how many are wearing their own footwear, add the colleagues together and multiply that by 50 (£50 - the average cost of a pair of trainers) each to get an idea of how much you are saving the company just in your office (on footwear alone)...then imagine that nationwide over more than 100,000 employees. That's why non wearing of uniform is no longer challenged.

While that is technically true, and I agree with the sentiment, some of the Royal Mail garments just aren’t comfortable, at least for me.

Like hell I’d Be wearing those 3/4 length combat shorts in this heat. Not a chance.

The shoes also aren’t good. I’d rather have my own - be comfortable for all those miles I walk. I’m not going to be uncomfortable everyday just to spite the company, as much as I’d like to. It’s just not worth it. I do wear uniform btw just to make that clear, just not head to toe.
