Shared Frames

So I’ve just come across an office where literally 2 former separate frames are now crammed into one 7 column frame which means double slots galore, no space to work as you are prepping side by side and can’t even tip a packet bag at the same time. Is this even allowed? I don’t exactly feel comfortable doing it.

yeah our office is well over 50% shared frames now.

introduced during height of covid no less, too. f***ing crazy. of course positive cases skyrocketed almost immediately. it's almost as if standing on each other's toes in a pocketed airspace is a bad idea for germ transmission. who da funk it.

there are countless other smaller issues too:

shared - rather than double - slotting is very much the norm and since there is no time allocation to number all d2ds, individual addresses will very often get two lots of the same useless advertising horseshit each week resulting in customer complaints and shooting the messenger (ie. us, the posties).

regardless of what they had planned, we have to be at the frame simultaneously for large parts of the morning. work distribution is too uneven for it to be any other way. so constantly standing on each other's toes, knocking into each other, just feeling generally really uncomfortable/claustrophobic. pretty dehumanising all in all.

I would prep all the d2d on the Monday as that is what they wanted and cut off

Ours has been like that for over a decade, wait until you get treble slots

Isn't a base and six wings the same as a 7 column frame?
Base + 6 = 7

Base and 6 is actually 9 columns of 20 slots

But they are still too small for 2 average sized deliveries. We rejected them in our last revision and the dom backed us....although he took EVR rather quick in the management reshuffle.

weve had shared frames for about 4 years pain in the ass as my p&l duty gets lapsed and im left with the larger side ive had 4 n 5 guys trying to get there lapsing as im trying to get ready leads to daily f....off arguments eveyday.
