I tell them I fit for work as soon as possible even if it's a day off or Sunday.This stops the clock ticking on your absence and could make the difference in getting a stage warning now or further down the line. I've proved and reminded managers previously when I notified them of return to work even as they had stage warning paperwork drawn up.pisses them right off nasty buggers

Yeah 100% this. Text them on a Saturday afternoon and say your are fit to work immediately. At least takes 1 day off your total.

Text and follow up with a call, that way you've got written proof. Managers see the calls coming on Saturdays, and I've seen them ignore it

Sooner you tell them the less days should be on your sick record make a note of the time and who you told you will be fit to work!

Timing is everything after 10 or 11 or 12 most will take the calls on the golf course before they get to the 19th hole!
