No, it's not a competition. Sorry!
Just curious what you would do if you came into that amount of money. Is that amount even enough to retire without working again these days? Depends on your age and needs, I suppose.
Would you carry on working and invest? Set up a new business? Retire from the rat race? Give some to charity? Or blow it all on one massive spend?
Personally, I would quit working for Royal Mail, do a bit of travelling around the UK (still so many places I haven't seen), buy some land with a small house, and set up some sort of low-key nature retreat or smallholding; or both. Maybe that would need more money...

ssdd,
I think Id design and build my own house. Something Ive always wanted to do. I also quite like the Idea of having a small antiques/junk shop maybe in a barn at the side of the main house.
So many things you could do!

Retire early, travel, go to night school, work out more at the gym and buy a season ticket at a top knocking shop

I would have my clothes and my shoes made to measure.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I would quit my receptionist job and change my sleep schedule so that I could sleep during the day and be active during the night. During my time, I'd be doing self-development activities like learning laguages or playing some kind of musical instrument.

I would probably blow it all on debts and essentials, and if I had any left I'd get a taxi to work every day.

I’d retire from RM, settle all debts, take care of immediate family(financially), buy a place somewhere hot like Tenerife and get into the property market in some capacity for regular income.

Isn’t that what the big movers&shakers at Royal Mail do?postieblueshirt wrote: ↑07 Aug 2022, 00:15I'd buy shares in royal mail...., I'm kidding ffs take a joke![]()
They sell-off untold numbers of shares at a profit before pumping out constant bad financial news and poor staff-employee relations stories which as a result drives down the share price before buying up untold numbers of shares again in preparation to repeat the whole process again when the shares have recovered.
