Hi, I'm fulltime, Still doing 42 hour week on a long-time signed-for duty but with all of the changes coming in would like to move to part-time with hours to account for the duty-time only (no lapsing or Indoor work bar frame-preparation) which would be approx 6.5 hour day X 5 days a week = 32.5 hour week.
This is to a) try to head-off any more bullshit arising from new changes (inc Sundays & annualised hours etc), b) exhaustion, c) try to get some work/life balance and d) due to carer-duties (caring for disabled elderly relative).
Questions:
Who is responsible for producing a new, legal and written contract ?
I would like it all in nice legal writing, part-time temporary change but retaining the right to fulltime (not necessarily required, a proper contract to part-time would suffice)....but legal and in writing (I don't want a 'nod & a wink' from a management that may change their mind in future or deny any contractual changes).
Is it the Union rep?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Ad.

(Forgive the negativity but...)
it's not going to happen.

So you want to temporarily reduce your hours?
You need to talk to your manager citing personal health reasons and get it in writing.
An understanding manager would grant permission but some will not.

Re: 'Temporary' move to part-time ?
A few years ago I dropped back from 38 hours to 30 because I wanted to, there was a re-sign going on and a suitable part-time vacancy. That was permanent as far as everyone was concerned, but when a full-time vacancy came up again I was asked about going back up as I was the most senior part-timer.
I would think there would have to be a suitable vacancy but doubt it would be temporary until you wanted to be made back up again.

Re: 'Temporary' move to part-time ?
A bit more, incliudes overtime but yes, and todays later start news might've changed things a bit since I wanted a later start but the later start kills the overtime since I won't be overtiming anymore so that's that fixed.
Re: temporary, I reckon its as well to lose a few contracted hours to knobble the annualised hours thing. I'd rather have part-time annualised hours than fulltime.
Thanks folks.

I wouldn't think you could have "no lapsing" added to any contract.

You need a manager who can contact HR and sign it off not just a manager but area manager you then get a variation of contract you get a few week's to sign it after that it is done no going back. As for temporary it is just as it says in the word but would you lose your duty as part of this?

I never had it on contract but the bastards knew I was not doing it ever just taking your meal relief and doing the job properly helps but most don't wonder if they ever will!sorefeet17 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2022, 11:21I wouldn't think you could have "no lapsing" added to any contract.

Woody inadvertently nailed the issue in his quote:
"The only thing worth anything in life is time.
The rest of it is just s**t we made up to kill said time."
Time is what I am after, not a change of contract, just a bit more time and I think the later start time might do it since there'll be zero overtime so..... a bit more time and as Woody says, its time thats precious.
Thanks folks.....thanks Woody!
