Help with understanding stages

Hi some clarification needed please . I had an operation mid Dec last year & was off sick till end of Jan on my return I had the normal back to work interview & manager said that the time I had been off triggers a stage but said he had not decided yet if he would issue one ? I have not heard anything concerning this since . But at this moment in time I'm suffering bad with a really painful ankle if I took some time off what stage would this trigger ? Or have got to suffer till end of Jan next year as is it 12mths rollings

If a stage was issued Jan/Feb it would remain active for 6 months from the date it was issued assuming you had fewer than 2 absences or 10 days in that period it would then clear.

The triggers are

Review 1... 4 absences or 14 days in any 12 month period.
Review 2... 2 absences or 10 days in the next 6 months.
Review 3 (consideration for dismissal)... A further 2 absences or 10 days in the next 6 months.

I would assume the stage 1 was issued.
It's a pretty safe bet.

Managers issuing warnings after a hospital admission and subsequent operation shouldn't happen but does.

Find out what action was taken by your manager.

Return to work is completely separate from an attendance review 1(known as a stage 1). You should be given written notice of when the review will take place and informed of the right to have a union rep attend the meeting with you. The review is a chance for you, or your rep on your behalf, to put forward reasons why the stage should not be issued. You should then receive in writing the outcome of the review within a reasonable time frame. And, yes, you sign the written record of the review to say you agree it’s a genuine reflection of the interview and you sign the outcome letter to say you have received and understand it.

In practice managers are probably going to always issue a stage 1 anyway

Not at any paperwork to sign or meetings so can't be on a stage ? Was back at end of Jan after op so surely should have been done.or could have been done behind my.back without me having a meeting or signing anything ?

You’ve had ‘CORRECTIVE SURGERY ‘ which shouldn’t go against your sick record . You’ve not received paper work either . I understand your fears . You need clarification by your rep . Never go into the office without your rep . That is my advice . Good luck
