Hi guys. Looking for some advice. I was off work for over 7 months. Long story cut short. Had a MRI scan and it turns out I have a rare disease in my lower back. For 10 years I was told I had a slipped disc. Turns out all my discs are fine. Anyway, I am in constant pain no matter what I do. ie, walking, bending, twisting. This disease is inoperable. I am waiting on an appointment for the chronic pain clinic also. I have returned to work and I cannot do the job anymore. I am now classified as disabled and receiving PIP and have a blue badge for parking. Can I ask for medical retirement or will I have to go back off work sick to get the ball rolling for IHR. Been in the job 15 and a half years. I have came back and tried, but I really am in agony and cannot do the job anymore. Thanks for any help and assistance

First thing you need is a referral to Occupational Health. If you are now classed as disabled and cannot do the job anymore then they will have to refer you. If your disability is documented by heath professionals which it sounds like it is, then I'll be surprised if OH can do anything other than recommend you for IHR.
