Strong rumour 22,000 agency incoming.
Again taken from WP, theres one or two saying they've heard strong rumours of approx 22,000 agency incoming for training with some people saying they've been told their office is actually having said agency workers in preparation of strike action and then others saying they've heard/been told agency workers have said in some offices they will not cross any picket lines.
Take with pinch of salt as always.

Re: Strong rumour 22,000 agency incoming.
I think this rumour probably originated from this which comes from a reliable union source.
What we have heard is that Royal Mail may be intending to push ahead with their 346 parcel hub plan next week by executive action, obviously we won't be co-operating with this plan so they're going to use casuals to fill the gaps in these offices delivering parcels in the afternoon.
In addition we have heard today that RM are to recruit 2,400 Agency workers to work in their designated parcel hubs, assured of 20 hours per week work. (RM who profess to be skint).
Of course we respect all workers in the workplace but we will not cooperate in setting up these duties.

If true, that shows how ill-thought-out this super-hub strategy is.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2022, 16:07I think this rumour probably originated from this which comes from a reliable union source.

They're spending hundreds of millions to push LAT back by a couple of hours.

They're looking at it from the point of view that they've invested multi millions in hubs to get these year on year massive multi million poundbritwrit wrote: ↑30 Jul 2022, 16:38If true, that shows how ill-thought-out this super-hub strategy is.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2022, 16:07I think this rumour probably originated from this which comes from a reliable union source.

contracts from the likes of ASOS, M&S etc. so they've got to push parcel deliveries later to satisfy those customers. I understand that
we've got to have these contracts but all these companies are keen on greenwashing their reputations but encouraging recipients that
they can get next day delivery even on a Sunday and even if they order just before midnight is hardly 'green'! What's wrong with 48hr
for most things?

All of it. It won’t connect early enough to go out on the duty.2yearpostie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2022, 17:00Are they still giving the rural oversized to the the walk posties or these agency chaps, bet most wouldnt find 'farm in middle of nowwhere lane.'

Re: Strong rumour 22,000 agency incoming.
I was told by my DOM yesterday that he has applications sitting there ready to go, that he is not allowed to progress even though we have 17 vacancies. He has been told there is a nationwide recruitment ban.
Do you think this is just a ban on hiring on RM contracts? Then they are using agency staff instead to try and bypass any potential strike action because temp staff technically haven’t been balloted?
Like others have said, good luck finding 22,000 agency! Even if they did, what usually happens in our place is 10 start and after a week there are 2 or 3 left

Re: Strong rumour 22,000 agency incoming.
My office is one of the parcel hubs, I've noticed this week they have removed a whole bunch of non-used IPS frames(Stored redirections/RTS stickers and general other stuff) and re-arranged the IPS area, looks quite bare now. I have not idea if that it related to what you are saying or just house keeping, but interesting to know what plans maybe coming.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑30 Jul 2022, 16:07What we have heard is that Royal Mail may be intending to push ahead with their 346 parcel hub plan next week by executive action, obviously we won't be co-operating with this plan so they're going to use casuals to fill the gaps in these offices delivering parcels in the afternoon.

We've been told by one of our COMs that agency staff are starting on Wednesday or Thursday of next week and will be only be delivering parcels between 1pm and 7pm.
