Where can I find in writing the agreement that states that reserves are entitled to an average of 1 in 6 Saturdays off?
Thanks

You're not, you have to leave it to the goodwill/honesty/morals/common decency of your manager.
In other words you're knackered.

The business transformation agreement 2010
I put in a grievance last week about this as its discrimination against leave reserves
It also goes against Royal Mail policy, which states everyone should be treated fairly and the same as everyone else
If you aren't getting your 1 in 6 Saturdays off the same as rostered staff, also ask who is giving local managers the authority to break National Agreements.
Get your Rep involved and put in a grievance.

Re: Reserves getting Saturday off
Brilliant mate, thank you.
I knew I had read it somewhere but when I came to find it I couldn’t. DOM is trying it on again so I will mention this when I see him tomorrow, see if he changes his tune.
Did it end up getting resolved in the end or is it still ongoing?
Cheers

Re: Reserves getting Saturday off
All resolved. Our Com/Dom now has a list of all staff on a board with what Saturdays they have off, so its done fairly throughout the office.
You can even put in a collective grievance with numerous leave reserves signing it, if its happening to the majority of leave reserves.

Re: Reserves getting Saturday off
It’s ridiculous that in a company of this size you have to submit grievances just to get what you are entitled to.
Good that you got it sorted though, as I imagine there are offices up and down the country taking advantage of reserves. I’ll let all the other reserves know though, as I know for a fact I’m not the only one and people have gone months without having a long weekend off… and they wonder why they are having issues with recruitment and retaining staff…

and then they want a pat on the back and bonus for simply doing what they're paid very well to do.PostalWorker13 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2022, 22:39It’s ridiculous that in a company of this size you have to submit grievances just to get what you are entitled to.

Re: Reserves getting Saturday off
So, as holiday cover for the past year, I have only got a Saturday off when someone has booked their week off and it happens to fall on their Saturday off. I've had 3 in a row, (once) I've gone 3 months or more without one....
Oh, and I've never had a long weekend as it's always back to a different route on Monday morning.

Re: Reserves getting Saturday off
That sounds very familiar.
It’s bad enough not being able to plan anything in advance because you have no idea of when your day off is going to be. It’s even worse having to fight just to get a long weekend like everyone else does.
I have accepted the fact that I will just get given the worst duties / the left overs / the two days mail or whatever else they throw at me, that doesn’t bother me…
But the fact that we can’t get a rolling day off like everyone else and have to fight to get a long weekend every few months really pisses me off.
It really isn’t that difficult. Annual leave for the most part is booked months in advance so how hard is it to give us a few weeks notice for a day off.
