Leaving the business a day after my rota week

Hi there

I’ve left Royal Mail after 15 years service and finished the day after my rota week.
I got my wage slip the following Thursday and noticed they’d stopped my basic pay.
I know it’s different at every office but at ours we work 5 6 day weeks (getting paid for 5 days) and get the 6th off.
So I thought if you’d worked the 5 weeks prior you should get paid your basic pay on your rota?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It will depend on where in the rotation your week off fell.

When you introduce a 6 week rotation (5 duty holders and a rotator) someone has to take the first week off which in effect means they owe the business 5 days every time it's their week off .

Whoever takes the 6th week in the rotation has obviously already worked their 5 weeks and doesn't owe anything.

Those in between will vary between 4 and 1 day owed.

I would ask to see the working because chances are they haven't got a clue where in the rotation you were and are just trying it on.

Yes

Would that be correct then as your pay last week would have been your final pay, don't forget we don't work a week in hand so when we started we got paid on our 1st week.

Edit...ah sorry did you mean you didn't get paid anything whilst you were on your week off, yes definitely incorrect, you should have been due at least 1 days pay but as woody said above I bet no-one knows where you featured in the rotation when you started on it

Probably couldn't be arsed trying to work it out.
It does matter but it's one of those things that is difficult to find out 15 years later.
You need a rep that keeps notes and is still alive.

I'm pretty sure that from the Natioal Guidlines on working Wallington weeks, no adjustment was made for leavers who had been on the Wallington work pattern if they had worked this for over 6 months.

It's a bit more vague than that..

Where people have been working the arrangement for more than six months this should not be necessary.

I would imagine they'll argue that should not be necessary isn't the same as shouldn't be done.

Still it's worth a shot.

Sounds like a typical dumb-arse postie manager's decision.
How many hours do you work over five the weeks? Is it the same amount as you (or one of your colleagues) would have worked if they worked six weeks out of six as an attendance pattern, ie, are you working the same hours as others but over five, rather than six weeks?
If you went sick for a period of time would you be unpaid for every sixth week?
If not, that manager (or whoever entered your data) is talking out of his backside.
