It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

A key quote from Keith Williams:
Our shareholders have taken a reduction in the dividend over the last few years while our
employees have seen both increases in pay and reductions in the hours in which they work. Moreover, two thirds of
the dividends which have been paid to shareholders over recent years have been funded from the reported profits of
the international business, GLS. Royal Mail has only contributed a third of the dividend return to shareholders and its
contribution will be even less this year if indeed there is anything at all. This is not well understood and that has to
change.

The problem with he reduction of hours in DOs, and I can only speak for my DO and certainly not mail centres, is that there has not been a commensurate reduction in the work expected to be done compared to before the 2 hours was removed from full-timers. Not a single delivery has been altered in our revision, only the creation of new collections/parcel hybrid duties, the parcels being solely HCT delivery oversized.
That's not even mentioning the 8 staff that have left since November (the exodus has been well under way in my s****y office since before these latest ridiculous proposals) and haven't been replaced so that everyone bar the favoured few are moved from their duties in rotation so that they get double mail once a week, twice if they're "lucky". The only thing that's really changed is an increase in bullying from managers due to these factors that has resulted in s**tloads of mail being left in each day. Keith Williams doesn't give a rat's arse about any of that, of course, only the shareholders pleas of poverty.
